Sanjojuku is a great ryokan. If you'd like to live a great japonese experience, this is the place where you have to go. It's all beautiful, with a nice wood smell and little flowers disposed in every corner. You also have the occasion of sleeping in front of a charming traditional japonese garden. And the staff is very nice and welcoming.

It was very clean and quiet/peaceful. I didn't have to worry about the cleanliness of the shower and toilets. Staff were really friendly. Love the proximity as well to Nijojo castle and the accessibility it had to Nijojomae station.
Don't expect a big sign written in english on the façade, it's just a traditional door with a big lantern which doesn't make it very easy to find. My advice: don't forget to print a little picture of the building attached to your google map capture, it will help you!.
walk downstairs to the bathroom, noisy creaky house so you'll have to keep your stay G rated.

Only one shower room for everyone.

Price is a bit more expensive then the ryokan I originally booked, but it's money well spent.
