  I liked sleeping on the mattress they put on the tatami mats-I deliberately rented a room for 2 people so that I would have 2 beds to use, and I was proven correct because the single bed would have been too narrow for me. The onsen-style bath, like a small hot tub, was nice. - Our traditional room was clean and spacious with pleasant decor.   Set right in the middle of the Geisha district (a good thing as all the buildings are traditional and pretty). As soon as you walk in you see framed photos of a cat doing various things, it is the owners cat who slinks around the place like a king - the owner herself is a rad lady who doesn't speak much English but is very accommodating and lovely... what people say » . The room we had was cheap and huge, with a balcony looking out to the street, and more importantly free tea! bathrooms are separate but there was a - This is a unique chance to experience Japanese hospitality at its simplest best. No frills but the real thing: tatami rooms, futon beds, common ofuro. While the owner understands enough English to deal with her guests, she appreciates it when the latter make an effort to utter a few words in Japanese. Had the place not been fully booked, I would gladly have spent a week there, in the middle of the eastern geisha district. Am looking forward to my next visit! I almost forgot to mention the rate:
