Wonderful hotel! Very romantic, perfectly located not far from Duomo - 3 minutes' walk. Huge room (superlux). Everything you need for the comfortable stay. all reviews » The Palazzo Tolomei was just an overall amazing experience. We had a hard time finding it because it actually is a real palace and the door of the palace is just as it should be- over 12 feet tall in the wall of the palace. We were looking for a traditional hotel with a sign. We were so glad this was not! It was an adventure and made our Florence experience the most amazing of our Italian stay. Daniella and her staff are one of a kind; so friendly and helpful we didn't want to leave. The palazz. Beautiful, Perfect, Wondrous!!!!! Stay here!!! This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. It is nothing short of a museum. Our ceiling had original paintings and moulding. The furniture was antique. There were even frescoes on the walls. Daniela, and Daisy, as well as the owner (I forgot her name but her warmness is unforgettable) were the most gracious hosts ever. They had a little welcome table of coffee, croissants, and juice for us once we got there. Daniela made sure we knew wher. This is an excellent choice for accommodation in a very central location of Florence, within a short walking distance to the major sites i.e. Duomo, Academia, Ponte Vecchio. It will not be eveyone's cup of tea. The location couldn't be better. It occupies two floors of a sixteenth century Palazzo, sharing the building with some apartments. The entrance is through two massive oak doors into an interior courtyard complete with fountain and statue. Not your average tourist hotel and kind of a unique experience. But it did not matter much and you can always have breakfast at the hotel - have coffee etc. We went to the cafe to have breakfast only once and then preferred to do it in the hotel where staff were always friendly and welcoming. Nothing to dislike - this is the place to stay in Florence. Seems pretty expensive, but I'm not up on current prices in Florence. Upkeep must be expensive and Daniella aims to restore the building. Do not drive to the hotel or even in the historic center of Florence. Very difficult and confusing and nowhere to put your car when you get there. Everything was perfect no bad comments :). nothing. There is absolutely nothing we did not like. there was nothing i didnt like however if you have very small children or very frail elderly people accompanying you this may not be your hotel as although containing a lift, wifi etc there are some steps to negotiate and potential for toddlers to come to grief if unattended as its a 14th centurary building. Nothing. nothing!. What's not to like?. If you happen to drive, it will be a hassle to find the place, as the GPS does not to work in the old part of Florence City. Suggest you either ask a Taxi to take you there once you reach the restricted area of Florence or call the Palazzo Tolomei to come and pick you up from where you are. Nothing. Everything was perfect. Nothing. - street noise very late at night - would need to shut windows and turn on A/C to reduce it. Nothing at all. Not much. -. Nothing.
