The host, Pat, is very friendly and welcoming. I was staying in Kenmare for a wedding that was held a few miles outside the town ( in Dromquinna Manor, which is fabulous for a wedding,btw) and Pat offered to drop me out to the venue. Very kind. The room has everything you need and was perfectly clean but this isn't the Ritz so if you're fussy it might not suit you. If on the other hand you want a proper "Irish Welcome" from a wonderful host then this is the place for you. Breakfast was deliciou.

I had a great night's sleep - much better than reported by friends who stayed in a renowned hotel nearby! TV that actually worked. Free wifi Great location - if you know the shortcut and walk briskly, you're within 5 mins of the centre of Kenmare. Kenmare Bay and Brook Lane Hotels are just around the corner. The proprietor was so pleasant and helpful and made us feel very comfortable. The B&B was immaculate, the room comfortable and inviting. The location was within easy walking distance to the town center, which made for a pleasant stroll to and from dinner. Pat gave us wonderful suggestions for sites to see. He allowed us to dry our handwashed laundry on his clothesline out back. Our host, Pat, was a pleasure to talk with. He made us feel right at home. We enjoyed getting to meet his granddaughter as well. He gave us several options for breakfast -- always nice to have other options after a few full Irish breakfasts! -- and the food was good. Nice room, good location -- just a few minutes walk from town. The owner, Pat, took care of our every need. He has a lovely, comfortable home in a quiet location within walking distance to the town. Breakfast was cooked to order by Pat himself and was delicious - eggs and local smoked salmon. We will definitely stay there again when we are back in the area. Thank you, Pat!. Comfortable & clean with an excellent host. On arrival I was immediately made welcome by Pat and given my room which had a very comfortable bed,shower, T.V. and tea making facilities. All in all a lovely stay made even better by the friendly Pat. Will definetly stay here again. Patrick made us feel like we were staying with an old friend. He took care of all our needs and made us feel truly at home. We were very fortunate about all the places we stayed in Ireland, but Avelow House was both the best and cheapest of all of them. Good value for money. We experienced Irish hospitality at it's best in Avelow guesthouse. We can warmly recommend this B+B to anyone visiting Kenmare. Our host was excellent! There were other rooms off the street side that appeared a little larger. Nothing. I would prefer a house with more interesting features usually. Small bath but with heater; short walk to town which is not a problem in good weather. En-suite was very small. - just eggs and beans for vegetarian breakfast option. Bathroom a little too small. A tad bit further from the center of town than I expected since I didn't have a car and was on foot in the rain, but still not bad - only about a 10 minute walk. Nothing. nothing.
