Everything was great, loved the place. It's far better than lots of hotel around town. The lady at the reception was very nice and friendly and the breakfast she cooked us in the morning was beautiful. A pleasant area but within walking distance of town facilities. Right next door to the Greyhound Stadium made from an inreresting night out with a difference. A lovely, newly refurbished room.
all reviews » We were greeted with a warm welcome and broad smile! The room was modern, clean and had everything we needed. The walk into town takes around 10 minutes, so very doable. the place was clean and the staff very kind, indicative of the people of Galway and Ireland in general. Well worth the money and time. We spent three days at the Abby. Very clean and well maintained. Pretty plant in the bathroom, art deco furnishings. Reasonably close to the center. Free and fast internet. Friendly staff. Can't fault the abbey at the price Good all round comfort and recently decorated. Situated on a main road & easy to find, linen was crisp & clean. Friendly staff, great value for money and very comfortable. Parking. Within walking distance to city center. Very clean, contemporary interior design throughout and warm bedrooms. central location, very near Galway city centre. Nothing to dislike. The location was a few blocks from the Eyre Square, relative to other B&Bs, but still an easy walk. Parking is limited, but in the event the lot is full, just park in the lot to the right of the Abby Lodge. it can acomodate up to six additional cars. The address is misleading, and we wandered around for ages in the dark trying to find it based on street numbers. It is just past the stadium, if walking up College Road from the station. As with all homes converted to B&Bs, there isn't much sound insulation between rooms. But you sacrifice that luxury for the charm of the place. Bit if a walk into town but that was good after the wonderful Guinness in the numerous bars and restaurants. Parking was very squishy. Needed to ring the bell to be buzzed in to the B&B. Rang the doorbell/intercom several times before a guest came out and explained that the owners were down the street off site. Had to buzz a few more times before we got a response. Was more expensive than other cities. A bit far up College Road, but not terribly far. My single room was extremely small. Although the quality of fixtures were good it was let down by 3 cheap wire hangers in the wardrobe. No host present throughout stay. Talking to a receptionist remotely via intercom to gain access to the house upon arrival. No checkout or breakfast times given. A bit inflexible on providing late breakfast. A request for a cup of tea even was declined. Far too impersonal overall and soulless. Pity because it's a lovely styled house interiorly.
