Location was the only reason we decided on this hotel and it was really worth it. We never used any transport except of tour buses - evetything is a short wack far (quays, Temple bar, the Trinity college). It is situated at O'Connell street where one can find everything he wants - tourist information, hop on buses, one day tours, airport coach, shopping, pubs and a lot of fast food. It was very quiet at night (I stayed previously in the Temple Bar area and the revelry at night made it impossible to sleep). Breakfast was excellent. Staff (at reception desk, dining room, and housekeeping) were friendly and super-helpful. WiFi connection was very strong. Room was comfortable. Area very safe. Is across the street from the Gate teater where I saw 2 excellent plays, and less than 5 minutes from supermarket, department . Had a lovely stay at The Charles Stewart Guesthouse this summer. Our room was traditionally furnished but really nice and clean, with a power shower!!! The guesthouse is really well situated, it's on most of the main bus routes and it is only a short walk from the main shopping streets (Grafton Street etc) and the River Liffey and Temple Bar area. The staff were really helpful. I requested that they put a bottle of Champagne in our room as we went for my boyfriend's 21st birthday and they went . We spent 4 nights in Charles Stewart and we are really satisfied about our stay. Hotel is located in a great position; good irish and/or continental breakfast in the morning. The staff was really kind, gave us suggestions for guided tours and places to visit. The hotel has a luggage room, which is great if you have your flight in the afternoon/evevning and you want to enjoy the last walk through Dublin streets. Our room was clean and was tidied up every morning. Highly recommended if you wanna . Very nice guesthouse in walking distance from Temple bar street and city centre of Dublin. Buss stop from/to airport is almost in front of hotel, which is making transport much easier and user friendly. Next time being in Dublin, we’ll surely choose this guesthouse for stay. This hotel is in a great location - a few hundred metres north of the Spire, so for me everything was in easy walking distance. The hotel was quiet and inexpensive. I was travelling alone, so got a single room, but the room was still spacious enough for what I wanted and had adequate facilities - Shower room, TV, tea and coffee-making facilities and an iron. Breakfast was fine - At 7€ you could probably get breakfast at a café for a little less, but this was obviously more convenient. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Our room was clean. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of everything. Situated 3 minutes walk from O'Connell Street. There are adequate Buses for all destinations. I would recommend buying a 'Hop on, Hop off' pass for the Buses, it will save a lot of money if you want to travel around. Lovely places to visit. I knew beforehand (stayed here last year) that the rooms are very different. So I asked to give me the room corresponding to the picture in booking com. It has just been repaired so everything was brand new. Besides the hotel has perfect central location and excellent full Irish breakfast. The staff at reception is extremely efficient, helpful and polite. They try to do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. To my mind it's great value for money. Our room was large, as was the bathroom - very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the location is perfect as it's very central and within walking distance to Henry Street (shopping) as well as busses and other areas. We've stayed here before and would do so again. There was some constant noise in our bathroom coming from the water pipes (I guess), but once we'd asked about it, it was dealt with as quickly as possible. Appreciated that very much!. The location of this guesthouse is so handy for everything both Croke park, shopping , even the Aviva stadium because all the bus stops are so near by. There's a few lovely pubs near by ,Brainigans where the food was excellent and the Guinness was excellent to and the staff A one and Delahuntys on Dorset st ,paddy the bar was A one and again pint was excellent. When we arrived we didnt know where to park and to my surprise they had parking around the back which was brilliant, staff were very friendly and always very helpful, we stayed for two days in Dublin - the breakfast was lovely and we had a nice stay. Rooms are budget with a big bathroom and comfortable, great place to stay to explore Dublin as you are only a five minute walk from the town centre!. This hotel is in the perfect location for a city. There are many of the sightseeing attractions close by. The airport bus stops not very far away, umpteen buses available, bus and train stations nearby. The room was comfortable. Coffee and tea facilities, spacious bathroom, lovely bed - impressed with the ironing board and iron too! I would book this hotel again when visiting Dublin. This place does what it says on the tin it's not super luxury - but you are not paying a super luxury price. The position at the top of O'Connell Street is great and handy for buses to airport and for shops,pubs and restaurants. Breakfast was good. Rooms were clean and comfortable but a little dated. But reasonable city centre accommodation at a reasonable price Would recommend. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we went with my mother and sister, they had a few problems with their room, they told the receptionist in the morning and in the evening they were given a different room, no problems at all, we have stayed there 4 times over the last 7 years and would difinitely recommend it to anyone and will be back ourselves in the near future. We liked the desk staff very much they were very friendly and helpful the breakfast was of good quality but with very little variations .the location is great in town close to everything but not in temple bar which can be too noisy and a offers no quiet time if needed we would go back because of morris and Mario being so helpful and having such a fun attitude!. The location was great and the staff was very accomodating in every way. We stayed only one night and rented a car to go to further south the next morning. They allowed us to keep our luggage that would not fit in the car in their luggage storage and pick it up two days later. The hotel is extremely well located on the edge of downtown, without being in a noisy area, about 2 minutes walk to shops, less than 10 minutes from the train station, bus lines are just in front of the hotel and the direct bus line to the airport is also very close. After checking out we could still use the common room. If we ever come back to Dublin we will surely chose Charles Stewart Guesthouse again. The Bus from the Airport stops two blocks down from the Guesthouse, but the City and area buses stop right outside the door. The Charles Stewart is VERY conveniently located near central Dublin, O'Connell & Parnell Streets and within easy walking distance of so many of the historical landmarks of the city. The staff are all friendly, helpful and pleasant. As a older lady on vacation and staying by myself - the guesthouse made me feel safe. I did not venture out after dark as I felt the neighbourhood was a little unsafe. However when I was there In July it was light until after 10 pm. The staff was very helpful. Moved us from a 4th floor room to a 1st floor room. We are a mature couple and getting to the fourth floor was a bit tiring for us. Room was large clean. Older furniture put that added to the ambiance. We really enjoyed our stay the staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was clean the beds were comfortable and breakfast was really good . We were central to all buses and shops and restaurants. We are going back later in the year. I thought that the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The free wifi service in the rooms was also a great bonus to have. Furthermore the bathroom facilities were great and the free tea and coffee was a nice added touch. This city centre location is excellent and this is the main criteria for choosing it. It offers good value for money. This georgian house has retained many of the original features. Remember this is a guest house not a hotel. This hotel was fairly priced, just stayed one night, was in the centre of all the shops , pubs, buses were easy to get, The hotel arranged our taxi for us to the airport the next morning. My matress was so worn from one side that I was busy all first night long not to roll down from the bed.If you want your Wi-Fi to work - crouch and stick to the gap between a door and a floor, may be you'll be lucky to catch a signal (my son was).In the afternoon you don't have power in the sockets, just an upper light.At the first time I wasn't sure but it happened every day and became clear - this is a policy of saving money. I am environment freak as well so I forgave them. There was no a/c but it is probably rarely needed in Dublin (I happened to be there during a heat wave). The luggage room was off-putting. Its appearance was of a "behind-the-scenes" room which would have been fine if it was behind the scenes! As we had to leave our bags in the luggage room and wait to see our room, it was a bit worrying and gave a misleading first impression as the rooms are lovely!. Didn't like the separated skin tabs for cold and hot water. There was no soap in the soap machine. A soap would have worked. These are obviously very minor points and I have to say my overall experience of the place was good. Check in isn't until 14:30 and I wasn't able to check in early. There were soap and shower gel dispensers in the room that were empty. The iron was connect to an electrical timer, which only worked intermittently. It was quite expensive in Dublin, but it's a City after all. Really nothing to complain about. The double bed was a little on the small side. We're both not too tall, so that worked ok enough for us, but I imagine it may be a bit too small for some people. Not that I didn't like anything to do with guesthouse it was excellent in every way , but I went back in to book another night later next month to find out that that price was half price to what I payed for when I stayed, now in defence of the guesthouse this happens in every hotel and guesthouse in the country I suppose when there rooms start to fill up, but I don't think this makes it right to have to pay double ,. Nothing at all:-). Brown wholemeal bread is really welcome, but I think you might try another make: the bread had an unpleasant sour taste, although it was a good wholemeal texture. The bathroom although spacious is fully tiled - the floor has been tiled with what should be wall tiles, there's no grip once they are wet. There is a shower mat to use however I felt the floor was a hazard. Extra care is called for. There were various 'noises' of pipes/heating etc that might disturb light sleepers - having said that; after spending the day touring and the evening enjoying the Irish pubs, perhaps sleeping won't be a problem!. Going out and returning to find a Stanley knife on our bed. Our room was the size of a closet and the tv reception terrible. The place could use a little sprucing up, and some new carpet in some rooms. All good!. no laundry facilities. The smell of food from fast food in the street all day. the speed of internet ;) We could hear our neigbours - but it did not bother us that much. Breakfast could be a little better (especially sausages). the Tv remote missing ,desk lap and locker didn't work. The breakfast room should be bigger. It gets crowded at the peak hour (around 9 a.m.). Some of the staff, while never rude, were a bit curt. Walls half mauve gave the stairway and some common areas a rather 1980's look, marring otherwise charming spaces. I might suggest no artwork on the walls of the rooms over the tacky pieces hanging in ours. A couple of noisey guests late one night but that is not the fault of the hotel. The bathroom was small. Nothing. I had a ground floor room but there was no lift and this might be a problem for some people. The room could use updating but was more than adequate for our stay. Bathroom very small. Being an older building there are no lifts so lugging cases up to the 4th floor is strenuous . Wifi was too weak in our room, good reception down in the lounge area though. We stayed in room 101 with a small en suite bathroom: the toilet was squashed into a corner behind the sink. The bedroom window didn't close properly so it was draughty. The carpet was fraying at the new join and the smoke detector was hanging out of the ceiling. The dining room is down a flight of stairs, which was not made clear when I booked a ground floor room. For the Price it was nice but I have stayed at nicer accommodations for a little less. The Building was Older and needs a little updating. Nothing. The hotel advertised in room Internet. I stayed there twice into different rooms and each time I could not the Internet in my room. I had to go to the lobby. I can understand why I could not get service in my rooms. it is because of the building stone construction. But it would have been more convenient to get it as advertised. Nothing. Personally I had no problems at all with my stay at the Charles Stewart. Toilet and shower were very small but they were adequate not luxurious. Well, you can't have everything!. Nothing really. ticked boxes for what i was looking for.
