What a Gem. I booked here because it was cheap,but I was pleasantly surprised at what I got. Breakfast was super freshly cooked.The staff where warm and oh so helpful. Location was superb right in the centre with views over river. I can't believe how any one can leave a negative report about this Gem of a B&B.I was told by a regular whom I met that's stays there often that prices have gone down more than 40% in the past few years but the standards have gone up. How they can do it for 60€ pe.
all reviews » Loved the friendliness of the staff they were all excellent, stowed our bags for us before and after check-out too, so we could do more sightseeing. The beds were very comfy and clean linen, good signal on the TV. The breakfast was very plentiful and had lots of choice. Place was like a tardis! Represented good value for our money, near enough to bus links etc, but far enough away to give an undisturbed nights sleep. Liked the key-code entry to bedrooms. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Location of the hotel is amazing, just cross the little bridge outside the hotel and Temple Bar is steps away. Breakfast was sufficient, they cook scramble eggs or omlette with sausage for you. Allthough our room was not very spacious it was big and comfortable enough for two. The staff was so kind and welcoming! It was great waking up and having a full Irish breakfast! Our room was clean and very comfortable for what we paid for it. Also the location was in perfect walking distance to all of the sights! I would definitley stay here again if I come back to Dublin!. the staff were really helpful and not overbearing. although not particularly new in terms of interior, the hotel turned out to be good value for money. the location is perfect for tourists. No lift but manager says it is a listed building and they have not got space. Would have liked more space in room. The shower cubicle was very small, no room to move, and some of the grouting near the tray has come away making it look a bit grubby. The lead on the kettle was very short so didn't feel safe having to rest it on the stool whilst it was plugged in. The was an odd fusty smell on the stairs area. No lift! Couldn't find any fire exit procedure/assembly points listed, we were on the third floor (so 4 storeys up). There was no lift in the hotel. No lift available so it's best for people who are travelling light. Interior is out of date. The fact that even though it is a gay venue straight People book it up because it is good value then they look at you funny at breakfast! Don't stay there if you don't like it. The shower. The room was very small, and there were only two hangers in the wardrobe. the second time we stopped, we had a larger double room at the front. It was a little tight walking around the bottom of the bed. The razor socket did not work, which meant I had to plug my adaptor into a socket in the room, and shave without a mirror. shower is very small room is just basic and not very comfortabel but for one night it was ok. Climb 3 levels high. Room is very basic. Could have put more maintenance effort. All electric wires are exposed. Very basic and simple. Our room wasn't ready by the time we arrived at around 2pm (1 hour later than the checkin time). The staff only started to clean up the room when we got there so we had to wait about 15 minutes (not too much time to make the room, is it?). Room and bed were very small. My room (No 36) was on the 3rd floor, my toilet & shower was on the landing between the 1st floor & 2nd floor ! When i was showering the shower stopped working and the staff couldnt get it to work again. I simply had to dry off. No refund was offered. Only a small skylight in bedroom, no blind on it, very dilapidated room. I stayed here previously on a few occasions,(some years back) - it was fine then. Used the sauna. And very disappointed. Needed a good deep clean. We had a room on the top floor, and there was no lift, so we had to struggle up three high flights of stairs. which was a big put off. Keypad entry for rooms. Shower room and toilet too far from room. Uncomfortable bed. the halls are disgusting and dirty, it has become overpriced.it is really basically ugly inside. the sauna is now disgusting,. Awful room. The bed is so bad that you'll prefer to sleep on the floor - the mattress is probably 50 years old . Someone definitely cleaned this room before, but either he was blind, or the filth on the walls is so old, that you think you're in jail. We even didn't take chance to have a shower in this disgusting place. If this Never again. I could feel the springs in the mattress so didn't sleep much. When I woke, there was no water, so I couldn't wash or go to the toilet and had to leave in a rush to find facilities to do so. They wouldn't refund any money even though there were no facilities due to a burst pipe apparently. This ruined my stay in Dublin.
