All of the group (26 people) agreed that the food was on a par with its more illustrious neighbour, Mitchell's. Lovely little hotel. It was a very quiet time of year and Clifden was extremely quiet but hotel is brilliantly central and very nice. Location was perfect for sightseeing and central to bars and resturaunts. Quiet at night so good for nights rest. Lovely room overlooking town centre. Excellent smoked salmon/scrambled eggs for breakfast.Reasonable price. In the middle of the town of Clifden, very handy. Staff very friendly and accommodating to the children. Great price and lots of space in the bedroom. Perfect location to explore Clifden. Staff were friendly and well informed. Unexpected noises at night from banging gate or vibrating pipes. Room cleaning still in progress at 4-45pm on one occasion. On street parking not always available close by. Tea and coffee facilities were hidden away from view. Little bit noisy late at night. Room got very hot as windows only opened a fraction. Breakfast was €10 per person, including children, €40 for breakfast is too expensive, especially with a 4 and 6 year old. The main desk was not maned at peak times. rooms at back of hotel a disaster, air conditioning or generators outside window roaring all night no sleep,car parking only on street,despite been advertised as private parking on site. Price should include breakfast. If I give the business the least to expect is a breakfast. Everything was OK!. Bar facilities average. no lift (room on 2nd floor). No lift. Room very warm.Patterned carpets. We booked the hotel through the letsbookhotel.com website which was quoted at 69 euro for the room however when I rang the hotel at 8pm to confirm the booking they said that the price was 69 per person sharing. I ignored what he said and booked it through letsbookhotel.com anyway. On arrival I asked the man why was he willing to overcharge me for the room and he shrugged his shoulders and made no apoligies for it. For this reason I would be wary of booking this hotel again. Horrible old smell when we entered the foyer. you have to pay for parking on street. musty smell in hotel. no net curtains on window . people can look in room from street . television tiny with only basic stations. Being telephoned having left the hotel and being asked to return to pay for two cappichinos which accompanied our breakfast. it actually appalled me, that and the attitude of the person who made the call will lead to me advising friends to steer clear. as expected value for money.

Hotel information details

The hotel derives its name from 15 June 1919, when Captain John Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Brown guided their Vickers-Vimy biplane to a bumpy landing in the bogs just south of Clifden, near the Marconi Wireless Station in Derrygimlagh. This marked the world’s first transatlantic flight.
