What people say
What makes Athy special first and foremost is the couple who run this family home. They made us feel very welcome and shared their personal story of their house and its amazing georgian history with us. The house in itself is beautiful and takes one back in time..our master bedroom was incredibly comfortable with lovely bathroom soaps and shampoos.. The dinner that's also available on request was very hearty and made with local produce...overall, we'd recommend it to anyone looking for a romant. all reviews »
We stayed at Dollardstown house while on a short break to attend a
family wedding close by We had an excellent stay from the moment we
arrived with the welcoming scones to the breakfast just before we had to
reluctantly leave. The hosts were always attentive to our every need
including fresh milk at our bedroom door in the morning. We have no
hesitation to recommend Dollardstown House.
The owners / hosts are a terrific couple and very very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
The bedroom was very comfortable, the drawing room and breakfast room great too.
Breakfast was superb and loads of choice etc
We were also welcomed with a pot of tea and warm scones upon arrival
They even supplied water and plastic sheeting for a concert we went to one day!.
We stayed one night at the start of Nov 2013. The welcome from our kind hosts was genuine and they were attentive to our needs throughout. We were able to arrange a lovely dinner of local home cooked produce at short notice. My girlfriend who is vegetarian was very happy there. The house is warm and the setting beautiful. We would definitely come back to stay again.
Andrew and Antoinette were the perfect hosts. I could not fault their hospitality. The house and gardens were charming and very comfortable. Our meal was one of the best we had in Ireland. For those wanting a wine with dinner, purchase before arriving.
I would highly recommend Dollardstown house.
Loved the scones and jam on arrival. Can't wait for my next visit.

hospitable! I would have no hesitation in recommending Dollardstown
house to anyone looking for something a little different! We will
definitely be back!!.
My wife and I were looking for a quiet break not too far from Dublin. Dollardstown House more than fulfilled our expectations. The hosts were wonderful, the room extremely comfortable with fine view, the house is a hidden gem, the breakfast great. Will definitely return.

Charming old country house: rustic, elegant and very authentic with bags of history. The owners treated us like royalty and made us feel right at home.

The country side, the house, the atmosphere, the room, the breakfast.
The warm welcome and the relaxing setting - pure comfort!!!.
feeling of being at home.
Very welcoming.
The proprietors were most welcoming and helpful. They did every thing possible to make our stay pleasant. Nice touches were the toiletries and presentation of these. Their on going rescue of this listed house is both brave and commendable. However it is obvious a lot of money and work are necessary to present it as a Country House.
very quirky step back in time to an early 18th century residence.
Very friendly and helpful staff pleasantly decorated and furnished room and comfortable bed.
Owners hospitality.
location good
car parking good
nice countryside
very friendly.
Nothing!.
Nothing.
Having to leave!.
Nothing what so ever.
nothing.
I think the bedrooms could use some sprucing up. The furniture is fine and the bed was comfortable.
Signage and directions could be better
Dinner option not advertised.
Had to come home!.
Nothing.
Certainly not a four star property more like a two star.
Ensuite was located in a converted wardrobe so you could not shut the door to shave.
The house is in a very run down condition as are the grounds.
Peeling wall paper, cracked window panes , thread bare carpet, thistles in the front paddock and no garden to speak of as you approach the house, the exterior of which needs a lot of repair. Not worth the tariff.
The en-suite shower room was small but functional
There was no restaurant facilities however this did not detract from our very pleasant experience here.
bathroom.
bathroom too small
dirty cup in room
plugs in walls hard to get at.ok but a bit ramshackle overall.
