Our stay here was fantastic and better than I was expecting and read about. We did not have anything we were no happy with, great location with a short walk from front entrance to beach unlike many others we have stayed in which meant walk from villa to beach was nothing if you forgot something or needed to return. The villas were spacious ( deluxe) and clean and fun with the quirky bathroom etc. Mozzie net a great bonus as yes mozzies were a bit of a problem at night as is anywhere. Nice size .
all reviews » I loved staying at La Taverna! If you want a relaxing holiday, away from the noise and pollution, then this is the place. The staff are attentive in a low-key sort of way; the food is delicious; the pool is small, but never crowded; the location is ideal - right on the beach; the gardens are immaculately tended. The rooms appear to have been recently refurbished and are comfortable, spacious and air conditioned. La Taverna is a real oasis. Location wonderful. restaurand bar and other common shared areas in traditional style worked well and encouraged totally laid back approach. No noisy air conditioning in common areas as all cooled by sea breezes and shaded. Lovely styling throughout. Location is perfect. Staying in La Taverna is like living in small cottage with trees and sandy land, feeling so homey. Nice restaurant right on the beach with a nice ambience. Either you are couple or family you will enjoy this hotel. privacy of garden unit relaxation by the beach low key and fewer guests to compete for facilities than big resorts I like its intimacy which outweighs any shortcomings. Like the quirky features of this old hotel - delighted that tv added since my previous visit - great location and very friendly staff. Adequate breakfasts. Maybe the low light as not central light as it is a Balinese villa so thatched room but side lights that didn't give great light but hey it is Bali and we were staying in a typical Balinese villa which is what we go for. Yes towels were thin and grey but they must of had a new supply arrive when we were there so got lots of lovely white fluffy ones too as we did the for the beach. So these were only a little bit of not good but didn't worry us. The spring bed is sinking. I think it needs to be changed. restaurant only fair for food choices staff only fair in friendliness compared to general standard in bali musty unit on first impression but you get used to it continental breakfast a bit meagre for the tariff the garden isn't what it used to be years ago. Restaurant prices are high eg Bintang significantly more than any other hotel/restaurant I visited - also "special" main meals not good value. Well, if pressed, a little bit of maintenance & decorating in the rooms maybe but actually, even the peeling paint seemed to enhance the style. Perhaps add a very little gym room with a massage table?. Breakfast can best be described as 'sad' with a bowl of cornflakes, some toast and fruit. The hotel management realise this and offer to provide a decent breakfast for a further payment of 100,000 rupiah, rather cynical since most other hotels in this price bracket offer a good breakfast anyway. Most of the staff seemed uninterested with the guests, and good service was hard to find. After midnight, the water in the bathroom of the room was always cold. hot water took too long to start up. The breakfast can best be described as 'sad': just a bowl of cornflakes and some toast and fruit. There was the option to up-grade to a decent breakfast for a further 100,000 Rupiah, which was a bit cynical. Staff are a bit dour. cyclists on footpaths along beach including motor bikes,. LocaL people let their dogs defacate on the beach. many mosquitos in room. room was very hot at night. as i can not sleep with a/c, it was almost too hot to sleep at all. Too expensive to eat there Breakfast average Getting old Towels old Everything is extra $. The staff in the restaurant did not understand English. When our daughter wanted cheese in her omelette we had to pay extra for the cheese. Service in the restaurant was slow and poor. The manager of the hotel was unfriendly. The pool had green slim on walls The bar staff tryed to over charge on drinks. breakfast was a joke compared with other other resorts.This was our 4th time to Sanua and the worst place we have ever stayed. Be cautious about booking this place. breakfast too limited, room to dark,. I had a very dark room and a bunch of large cockroaches in the bathroom. The restaurant is overpriced and the staff rather snooty. Generally this hotel is overrated and should try harder!.
