it was a beautiful resort, right on the beach in the more traditional area of Bali away from the noise and bussell of Kuta and Legian. Fortunatley we got off season rates other wise we would not be able to stay there. We have been at the Keraton already 9 years ago and it has not significantly changed. So this was good. We spent a few nights during low season with some rain. However the staff made our stay very nice.
all reviews » We only booked on the day of arrival and as a result had a great rate. The location is perfect, right at the beach and next to the middle seafood warong. Pool was excellent with 30 degree water. You can either enjoy the private beach or the swimming pool. They also have a tourist guide to make tourist programs for you around Bali. The location and access to the beach. location. whilst there was a great choice of restaruants on the beach they all served the same local spreciality ie fish cooked on coals. the choices of other foods were extremely limited if you were staying for more than a couple of days. It could be noted that the Keraton got older and is for sure not any more the same good address as it was a few years back. Some things in the rooms show their age. The sink was clogged, but was unclogged again after we advised the staff to do so. Unfortunately the beach was found not very clean. There have been too many (wild) dogs at the beach which made it more convinient to swim in the pool. Drinks were ridiculously expensive. Staff at check-in wasn't very helpful. However, all the other staff did a great job. Rooms were beautifully decorated, but a bit old and unfortunately we also had some cockroaches in the room... The bathroom, needs a good update as the tops looked dirty The climbing into the bath is dangerous for older people. Tiles are slippery The room are a tad small no where to sit inside to have a coffee or just read a book. Outside can be just too hot to do this The Internet access should be available in the rooms For older people climbing the steps to reception is a lot to ask,maybe a ramp would be good. The breakfast was a bit basic and very occidental. A plus would be to add some indonesian specialities. But nice breakfast in general. Dangerous dogs on the beach. Pool bar not serviced but not really busy enough to have someone there. Noisy in the morning: dogs, roosters and ceremonies of neighbours... Made me awake very early.(usually 5.30am). Restaurant is very expensive. Mosquito. They sell wifi for 20USD in the room per day!!!! Crazy price Hahaha and free in the lobby. And people sit in the lobby. Massage options over priced. It is kind of an isolated island without easy access to outside activities. More information and maybe some scheduled trips to attractions in the area would be good. Some rooms are rqther small, others are bigger and nicer. Better check while booking. The staff sometimes got our order wrong and the buffet breakfast would have been better if it was offered until later in the morning. A bit far from the airport. wifi only in lobby area breakfast basic.. same every day too quiet restraunt menu limited no activities.. boring for kids but suitable for mature people seeking a quiet environment. spa services very high price compared to outside alternatives pool bar not attended no staff available to service drinks at beach area. Too dark in the evenings... gives a feeling that only option in evening is to go out or go to sleep. nothing. the prices 100% dearer than just outside the complex. Alley from main road to hotel quite dark with only a few lights. Rooms need to be renewd. Decorations and furniture is a bit outdated. And the place at night turns into a hunted place.. It's so quite and feels like you're the only one in the resort. The staff. Except for the cleaning and groundskeepers, everyone was cranky, surly and far from the Balinese friendliness I had come to know and love. No one helped with my baggage up the many stairs to the lobby. When I checked out, the receptionist simply looked up at me, asked me my room number and pointed at the "key drop" box. The wait staff for the breakfast was not rude, per se, but not even close to friendly. No taxi service Very poor breakfast Bad restaurant food Useless reception.
