Perfect accomodation among the shading palms. Nice room arrangement. Helpfull and discreet staff who don't impose with proposals but do whatever you ask them of. Pool and nice pool surrounding with sufficient number of beds and the most beautiful bathroom building ever seen. A step away from the beach. Pictures at your site do not follow the reality!. Akhil Beach Resort is set in a beautiful and meticulously maintained garden, and has probably the nicest swimming pool in Varkala. It's location is just back from the busy-ness of the cliff walk, but only 2-5 minutes from the beach ... so it is a quiet haven but still has great access to beach and eateries.
all reviews » The too was comfortable and clean. The resort grounds were well cared for, and there was a large pool with loungers and towels. It was very professionally run, quick check in etc. They arranged a comfortable car for us when we left to travel to Alleppy. It was overall a good experience. Lovely resort which is calm and peaceful. Tropical gardens resound with birdsong. Nice rooms and balcony and constant hot water. Close to cliff and good restaurants and shopping with steps down to beach.Greta ayurvedic massages on site. The Akhil is an oasis in a hot, dusty place. The gardens are beautifully kept and surprisingly large. The pool is a particular gem for Varkala as the sea can be very rough and the beach extremely hot. The general vibe of the place was very good. The pool nice. Food was good, hot water in the rooms, a lovely garden with helpful staff. Great. Varkala is a lovely place to visit in Kerala. The reception people went and cleaned it immediately though. Nothing negative....and we are well seasoned travelers, who are on the road 5 months out of the year. Wifi was intermittent but their office also suffered. The only small criticism would be the small amount of storage in our room, an inconvenience for a longer stay. I imagine that in the season time it gets pretty busy and the pool is only small. Although in season time I would probably go between the beach and the pool as its all on your doorstep. Did not dislike anything about the place. would go back again in a shot. The breakfast menu. The rooms should have been made up each day. There was no wifi in the rooms, only in the restaurant which is more than a little inconvient these days. The website suggested tea/coffee/fridge in the rooms, but in fact they are only in the top priced cottages. Staff were not particularly helpful. Wifi does not work at most of the places inside the hotel area. Stagnant pond and concommitant mosquitoes. Room was damp, caused a leather bag to become mildewed. Nothing, all good. Being woken by very loud fireworks at 03.30 hr but this was not the fault of the Resort!. The staff were not particularly helpful - very hard to get hold of ahead of arrival and were not particularly fussed about our well-being during the stay. The restaurant was very slow There were some unpleasant smells Getting beverages by the pool was difficult. When we received our bill the taxes and commissions added 25% to the total, so beware. This did not happen at any of the other 5 hotels we used in Kerala. We could not use the pool till 9am. There was smelly rubbish in neighbours compound near our room. The taxi to Kollam tried to overcharge us when we had agreed price with reception. Having to wait so long for food. The rooms smelt musty and my bed felt like it was wet. One of the workers ripped us off and we over paid for a house boat in alleppey. Be careful when they arrange trips for you as they take alot of commission. Pretty much everything else. Over priced with no basics-no safe, no drinking water, no hand towel, no glasses or hot drink making facilities. Basically pool view room is 3x price of cheapest room and all you get is air con. Even room cleaning and towel changing are on request and need you to hand your room key in. Unfortunately we weren't told that we needed to do this so had 3 days with no service. Being made to pay credit card charge!.
