- This place is an excellent value for what you get. - Very friendly & helpful family-run campground & cottages. - Cottages are in nice wooded area. - Cozy cabin sleeps up to 4 but probably better for 2 people due to luggage space needed. - Cabin includes kitchenette with utensils, pots, glasses, fridge, etc. - Bathroom (shower) was a rather tight space but adequate for short stay. - Easy access from No. 1 ring road and close to restaurants and filling station. - Breakfast was supposed.
all reviews » We stayed just one night in very cozy and quaint cabin. As we were arriving the front desk staff (I think the owners) let us know that outside we could currently see the northern lights. From the field right there they were visible, they then suggested a place to drive to (about 10 minutes away) to escape the light pollution of Selfoss and see them even better. It was truly a highlight of the trip. When we returned, they had filled up one of the two hot tubs for us, which we relaxed in unde. We stayed at Selfoss on May 19th. We didn't expect to get such a high value for such a low price (52 euros). The room is fully equipped with kitchenware and a stove. I would definitely recommend this guesthouse. Also, it looks much better in reality than in the pictures. There are two hot tubs. Its clean, but a bit wearing. Selfoss is a good location for the last few days of the trip , since within one hour drive to a lot of tourist attractions and not far from the capital city or the airport. At least the cooking pan is non-stick. Care about their customer. I was late as I stayed for longer at Ice lagoon. But they wait for until I arrived. The room has all facilities, including cooking facilities. The bed is large, I booked for a single room, but it is big enough for two persons. We loved the cosy cabins. Not very modern, but fully equiped. The staff was very friendly. They heated up the hottubs especially for us. The breakfast (not included) was fresh and tasty. Restaurant and shops are within walking distance. big territory for camping and small wooden houses for 2 rooms. Quiet place with lots of trees, but in centre of town - 5 min walk to sipermarket. Helpful personal. Useful privat kitchen with refrigerator, kettle and hotplate. The owner was fabulous. We had to rearrange our trip due to the weather preventing us from going where we had planned. Nothing was too much trouble and so we stayed extra nights. I highly recommend staying here. It was just wonderful! A very inviting cottage, made of wood, between trees. Comfortable, intimate and functional. Just great! We were sorry there was no vacancy for more than one night. Highly recommended!. Bangalow with charm, clean, extremely friendly staff (they filled in the hot pot for us, and helped us booking the following accommodation), for sure the best value for money we had in Iceland... Very nice cabins. Friendliness. Location. This Gesthus is a camping. There are bungalow to stay, they are little but comfortable. There is a little kitchen with necessary, the bathroom and the bed. The owner was very kind and he ask to us if we got a bath in the hot tub, but it was too cold. I think in summer it's a good place to stay, keep in touch with nature. We went during April so it was very quiet and felt secluded Cabin was cute and had good facilities Staff were friendly and helpful. - Beds not very comfortable and pillows were rather lumpy. The cabin was plenty big enough for two of us, but it would definitely be a bit cramped for more than two people. A minor issue though as the size is part of what makes it so cozy. Breakfast was not included, but that makes sense with the low price. A bit old and tired. Not good for people with spiderphobia. The kitchen area is small and has no basic seasoning provided WiFi signal is bad. Nothing. not ideal clean. Nothing. Nothing.....all good here. Our room was pretty small, although it was lovely the size was disappointing compared to others (we were in a loft room 205) The bathroom light would warn you with a siren and then switch off after 5 minutes. A little scary if you're in the shower! Can see the point, eco-wise, but it needs to be given a little more thought. I actually wouldn't stay in Selfoss again, there are more beautiful towns nearby. Nothing. The hut that I stayed in, number 3, was very much right next to the car park. The slamming of car doors, while not keeping me awake, was a minor annoyance. It would be a good idea for cars not to be allowed to park right next to the huts. Cleaning was not made every day and it would have been nice to have the floor mopped at least. A rug would had made a big difference! Tv did not work. Everything was fine. Liked everything!. No blinds on the glass door. nothing. There was nothing I didn't like. Better map to facilities, fortunately we had a GPS. Hot tub not in service (assuming off season). Hard to find -- you DEFINITELY need sat nav. No daily cleaning. Nothing. Selfoss it's not a big thing. Stay just one day. The water smelt like sulphur .. Though not uncommon in iceland The spa was empty so we couldn't use it, it was part of the reason we chose it Pillows and linen could do with replacing.
