The interior of eco-friendly Guesthouse 1x6 is mostly built from recycled materials and driftwood, created by a local artist. The individually designed rooms have access to a shared bathroom, with a unique mix of bathroom tiles salvaged from local construction sites. The guesthouse has very nice recycled unigue wooden interior . The tub in the garden is perfect. There is a cosy atmosphere and the view from the kitchen with Dow overlooking the sea is fantastic. The self serving breakfast in the fridge is variated and the home baked bread tasty. Magdalena the caretaker of the guest house is very helpful and caring for the guests. A nice place to stay after arri ing from the airport or before leaving.
all reviews » My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with the design of the guesthouse. We were warmly welcomed, our room was cozy and practical, and the smell of fresh bread baking was enticing. While there is not much to do in Keflavik, Guesthouse1x6 serves as a handy stop for an early morning flight. --This is a self-service hostel that works very well for airport arrivals and departures. Guests check themselves in and out at all any hour. There is no staff, so no one to awaken. --Room decor is highly imaginative and cheerful. --You can cook for yourself--a big help to the budget traveler. Nice and cosy, very special rooms, nice garden with pool, well-appointed kitchen, good self-serving breakfast. There is everything you need to feel relaxed :-) Also early check-out is no problem. Great! What a pity that we didn't have more time to enjoy this great place!. This place is really awesome! It has it's own spirit. Perfect location for arrival or departure in Iceland. This creates some bottlenecks. --Basement guests must go outside in the weather to get upstairs to breakfast. --No staff on premises. --Spa is nice but garden is otherwise a mess and should not be touted as a feature. --Claims to be eco-friendly but does not have a single recycling bin. --------------. Nothing. It was all as we expected. Lack of publik transportation in the Keflavik itself and in Iceland generally but it doesn't concern the hostel mainly. The breakfast provided was better upstairs so the second night we stayed we just went up there. The room we were allocated was very small and dark. Hardly enough space for 2 persons and our luggage in the floor space. We did not meet any of the staff so cannot comment about it. Also kept Icelandic money as our voucher said we have to pay at the guesthouse but the money had already been withdrawn from the credit card!. The door of the room slamming open from the wind, but we fixed it by putting a cloth between the door and the door post and then closing it. No staff present during the stay. Two separate beds. Small.
