We recently stayed in this guest house for just one night, late check in and early check out. But this was one of our memorable stop on our Iceland trip. Not only the place is clean, comfortable and (relatively) reasonable, the owner of the house was so nice that he really made you feel you were coming to a friend's home. He was so knowledgeable about the local hidden treasures for first time visitor like us. He told us a few must go stops that you don't see from a guide book, like a beauti. all reviews »
Lovely guesthouse, and a great jumping-off point for sightseeing in the south of Iceland. There's not a lot going on in Hofn itself, but Sindri (forgive my poor spelling) was an excellent host who was full of ideas and information about what we could do. Most of our other hotels had hot tubs, so we were a bit disappointed at first that this one didn't. However, it's very close to a local geothermal pool. and Sindri recommended an excellent spot just a 10 minute drive away - five geothermal hot .
The hosts were amazing and friendly, I can't emphasize this enough.
A young couple who were super friendly and went our of their way to help
us with several things (I won't write what exactly so people
don't expect it as norm, but they were awesome to us). The
guesthouse is adorable, with a small sitting room with a vinyl
collection Sindri wanted us to play; Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Simon &
Gargunkel etc. on display. We were also encouraged to have a whiskey
with them, which is perfect in the.
Across the street from the two best restaurants in town: Humarhofnin & Pakkhus Restaurant. Lack of dining options means these restaurants always have 1-2hr waiting lists in high season. We put our names on the Humarhofnin waiting list upon arriving in Hofn. Instead of waiting with all the starving customers, we checked into the Guesthouse, settled in and after an hour went to the restaurant in time to eat the best crawfish you've ever had in your life. Good breakfast served in the Guestho.
Although we were nervous staying at a guesthouse when we pulled in and parked in the back gravel lot, we found these feelings unwarranted! The owners were lovely and offered very helpful suggestions on things to do/eat/see. The bathrooms were not an issue for us, given our different schedules/plans for the day from the other guests. The interior design was cozy and chic with vintage touches - far from outdated. Breakfast was also lovely - the kitchen offered nice views of the harbor.
The hosts and set up of the house was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Very clean, comfortable, accomodating and great location. I traveled by bus and my hosts picked me up and took me back to the bus. The house is within steps of the harbour, visitor center and great restaurants. Terrific breakfast. It's actually nicer than the pictures portray.
The owners were so very friendly, helpful and just overall delightful. The rooms are small, but lovely. The common room is very inviting with a record player and some great albums, the breakfast and breakfast room were yummy. It was so inviting and comfortable - like you were guests in their home. I wish we had stayed there longer!!!.
Very hospitable hosts, who made us feel at home once we arrived. Location is fantastic, beside the harbour and opposite the famous lobster restaurant. The rooms are bright and cosy. To our pleasant surprise, there is a gramaphone with awesome records. We love hanging out in the living room. Breakfast was also delicious.
Clean, warm and comfortable accommodation. Friendly and welcoming reception by owners. Complimentary hot drinks and home made biscuits . Convenient location overlooking the harbour and with several restaurants within walking distance.
We arrived early but sindri was really nice and showed us in. I played a few records from a decent collection. It's got a nice feel to it and we enjoyed the stay very much.
Very cosy place and well reachable. The owners were very very helpfull and did not mind that we got there pretty late.
The beds were super soft and slept very well.
+ the vintage record player with fun, old music selection that we were invited to use.
+ the staff was very attentive.
+ gorgeous fishing boats right outside.
Great restaurants located literally across the street. Incredibly friendly staff/owners and a great place to meet other travelers.
The hosts were great. Awesome record collection in the common space. Good views, and the breakfast was great.
It was a lovely place to stay - very nice proprietor and a comfortable
room. Would be happy to stay again.
The common room is very nice and cozy. Enjoyed listening to the vinils - nice collection, by the way.
The breakfast was great. Staff was really helpful even offered tips on where in Iceland to visit.
Excellent amenities in the guesthouse! And a very friendly and informative host!.
Very friendly and helpful, original equipment and decoration, comfortable.
Nice place in front of the Harbour. We loved the old record player.
very friendly and helpful owner, cleanliness, top-rate facilities.
Very cosy place. Feel very relaxing staying there.
The hosts, the location, the cleanliness.
All!!! The staff is wonderful!!! :).
The host was very helpfully.
Very friendly staff. Confortable room and bed. Nice location in front of the dock. Near to 2 great restaurants.
Only one bathroom shared among everyone upstairs and one bathroom shared among everyone downstairs. In the mornings there's a bit of a fight for the bathroom, which is inconvenient when you have to leave in a timely fashion.
The wifi lost it's connection pretty often or did not work. We couldn't search for new activity's online.
The downstairs room next to the kitchen was a bit loud in the morning.
The rigid arrival time between 16-20h...even 21h would make a big
difference. Maybe I took it too seriously though. Allowing use of
the kitchen would be great too, though I understand why they
don't do it.
Nothing.
It's a pity I had only one night there :).
Not enough bathrooms.
The breakfast was the worse in Iceland (we had 6 different hotels). there was almost nothing at breakfast. The room was not so comfortable. Not impressed like other hotels...
