I know my friend who stayed in this hostel couple of times. She was very satisfied with the price, the kindness and the location, so we tried this one too. It is a very simple hostel, but we had all we needed. We were in the city all day and then it was so great to go to the hostel any time, they have 24/7 reception and you can have questions at 3AM. At this price an own separate bathroom is just a wonderful deal on the Gellert-hill. It was peaceful for an old couple like us too.
all reviews » It was a fun place to stay. We were having fun in the city all day and night long and we just went to the hostel to crash to the bed. We started partying there with couple of drink at the reception and then the reception girl recommended some places to go. OMG, those were awesome places. Glad we had the staff like that. We did not bother anybody since we had our own bathroom. My friend also was able to smoke on the balcony. We want to go back. Very clean, good location, within minutes of the Citadel...a major attraction in Budapest. The center was accessible by buses 112 and 27. The room I was in was on the ground floor and the outside wall was all windows, and a door opened directly onto the enclosed yard with grass and trees...very pretty. Perfect place for backpackers. We enjoyed our time there very much. All the staff was very helpful. The room was clean and the bathroom was very pleasant! Great deal in the price range. I will recommend to my friend. We stayed on the top floor and were drinking a great bottle of Hungarian wine while we were watching over the city. My girlfriend loved that place! Wanna go back!. Very good location in 20 minutes by foot (or 4 by bus) from the city center! And in quiet place, under Gellert mountain, with nice panoramas of Budapest. I liked the value that we got for a cheap price. Own bathroom was the best! I recommend this place to others. The night bus station was simply next to the building so after party that was easy to come back. Nice room with private bathroom was our selling point. We will be sold next year probably too:). We arrived with car and we parked in the secured parking lot. They also had very tasty coffee. We asked the manager to put our rooms next to each other and then we hang out on the balcony. I haven't stayed in Hostels much, so I forgot how basic it all is...no towels and no toilet paper...but everything was available at additional cost. I was also under the impression wifi was available in the rooms, but it was only available in the lobby. Payment by card is not possible. Kitchen was not equipped with neither kettle, nor dinnerware, and the use of fridge was just forbidden (?!). We brought our spare bed for the kid but these rooms are not enough for three beds. We were satisfied with everything. The sheets were not installed on beds, we had to "make the bed", a little bit noisy by other tourists. It's getting hot specially on the top floor, take some mosquito killer with you if you want to sleep with the window open. The parking lot was secured only with a gate, anyone could have access to the cars parked inside. We know that there is no towel provided. It's fairly close to the centre. Still, with the amazing scenery you won't mind the extra walk. I did not like one of the receptionist. He was lazy and was hard for him to help me in the early morning around 3am. Towels were not in the price. It was a bit far from the center compared to similar hostels. Minimum of facilities. Finding the city centre was hard the first time. It is a dormitory in the rest of the year, you can tell. But it is in a good condition. The shower didn't have a head. Rooms were very dirty. uncomfortable bed, currency rate difference (why?), smelly bath, no wi-fi in the room. lack of shower courtain. 1) Quite dirty (walls, lockers, etc); 2) They don't give towels!! Guy on the reception told me I may purchase it for 1EUR but finally he did not find any for me. 3) Any soap or shower gel, we had to purchase it and leave full pack in the hotel. It's a students dorm. Rooms are small, not too very clean. Then taking shower, water fluids all floor. Beds are very uncomfortable (you feel metal stripe across near your coxa, so you can sleep only on back). -rooms were not that clean. -BEDS!!! are really uncomfortable!!! REALLY!! you are coming after the whole day of walking you want to rest in a nice bed that you are paying for!!!. too far from the city. Dirty floor/bathroom Very uncomfortable beds. this is a socialist type rest station lacking elementary facilities but if you want to remember the brigadier movement you can go there. however it is in perfect much with the Budapest infrastructure today. budapest today is tragedy. there is enormous difference between Vienna and budapest.
