Location, location, location! The hotel is exactly in the right place of Oia - the most charming part of the town, a few steps away from the observatory where everybody else will run to to watch the sunset. All rooms are built like those small caves that are typical of Santorini and have plenty of space. And the swimming pool has a priceless view of the sea and the horizon. The design of the hotel is very Grecian so if you want to experience or feel like an ancient Greek, this is the best place! ;) It's beautiful during nighttime. It's not to far from the main street where you can have coffee or dine in a very good restaurant and enjoy some Greek cuisine. It is also very accessible to souveni. We loved the location and the whole appearance of the villas. Leah was such a friendly hostess and really looked after us. We were so sad to leave her! The villa we stayed in had all the facilities we needed and we found it to be great value for money. The breakfasts were the best we've had on our 3 month trip. It was an incredible place to stay. Our cave was fairly small with only one bed but it was big enough for the two of us to share comfortably. We were offered bigger room but it was too far from the breakfast terrace and down too many really steep steps. We felt very snug and cosy in our little white washed cave with awesome views. Lia the manger was lovely, doing a great job. The property was incredibly unique with bright traditional cave style rooms. Not a 4 or 5 star property but it doesn't matter. The views and ambience makes up for it. The staff are incredibly friendly and service oriented and do anything to make your stay enjoyable. Breakfasts are awesome. By the time your stay is over you feel like family. From the moment I arrived I was warmly welcomed. the staff, particularly Leah and Magda were so attentive and informative and could not do enough to make my holiday the best it could be. This was a fabulous stay with the best views in Oia. I was pleasantly surprised to see that our hotel is the one that is always pictured when one sees Oia and the sunset. Breakfast was a big variety and cooked fresh throughout the breakfast period. One must be in decent shape with no serious knee or back problems to get there. I was just looking for a place to spend the night in Oia before catching my flight, and a cheap deal here for a cliffside room made it too good to resist. And it really was- I got a giant apartment with a great view! Really a great deal if you look at the prices of other comparable cliffside locations!. Leah was so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for her if we asked. We adored the small cave rooms and small kitchen set up, it was perfect for my husband and I as well as our older 3 children who had a larger unit to share. The breakfast was varied every morning and delicious too!!. We stayed for 2 nights in the cave apartment with a view of the caldera. The apartment was fantastic. They had porters to carry bags for us which was appreciated. The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. I would definately stay there again, and recommend to others. With good sea view. staff available and helpful and friendly. If you look into the hotel with sensible eyes, maybe it lacks a bit of luxury for the price. The pool is not so big, for example, and breakfast was not beyond average. But when you look at Oia, you realize there is no room for a huge hotel. So I guess it doesn't get much better than Oia Mare Villas anyway. Booking ahead maybe you can get better discounts. Our bed was made each day which wasn't really necessary but the cleaning could have been more thorough. Be aware that there are many stairs throughout Oia not just at this property. However this helps work off extra food and beverage consumed. Nothing .... It was perfect!. That I only had a night there... and was there alone, as it was rather romantic. Never went in the pool but there was definitely a ring of green around the water in it, so not sure how clean it was. Just wanted to mention that it would be good if the pool hose was put away after use as it was left out the whole time we were there and it spoiled the look around the pool area. The pool seemed a bit dirty in the corners and around the jet seats, needed a good clean. Otherwise everything was great. Some of the areas smelt like urine. Not sure if there was a leak in one of the apartments septic tanks? Checking in was a bit chaotic. Shower wasn't very good with low pressure, but thats all. Pool needed a bit more upkeep. 1. The kitchen wares should be more complete, or at least please tools for simple making coffe-tea. 2. The dog poo at some of the path to our villa 3. The old villa need a bit of airing, as dust and moist resulting in bad odors. The walk to and from the hotel was long with steps. Ecorama tours owns several hotels in Oia. When you arrive in Oia you go to their tiny office in the centre of town and they arrange a porter to bring your bags to your hotel which is fair because you could easily get lost looking for it. After initial check-in, it would be great if the staff in the hotels themselves were able to handle administrative tasks for us rather than sending us back to Ecorama which is quite an inconvenient bottleneck in their system. Pillow too soft. Place is a walk down the steps to ammoudi bay so not for old people. Adventuring people should have no problem with these!. Breakfast was so so; not many options, but what they did have was fine. If you are in any way physically challenged this hotel is not a good option because of the many stairs. The hike to and from Oia was a little longer than I expected (15 mins) and lots of stairs! It was still worth the hike for the view! The first day our room didn't get cleaned at all. Floors were dirty. The balcony on our room was very small. It seemed that others were much larger. I suppose that was my fault for booking that room, but without a better descriptions of the rooms from the website it was hard to tell. We don't eat ham or pork, so we didn't have much options in the breakfast (we faced this problem in all Greece), but again the staff was helpful and they made us an alternative option when we asked. Wifi is very weak in the room, it's better in the open spaces. Access to rooms by night was a bit difficult for us on first day, maybe it needs more signs from the Main Street, and some lights on the stairs leading to the hotel rooms. Keep in mind there are a lot of steps (sometimes steep steps) in the area of Oia. The shower.
