Very attractive hotel/apartment block located midway between town and the beach, so quiet and yet convenient. Nice pool (though surprisingly cold after a long, hot summer) and outdoor breakfast/lunch area. Staff very friendly and helpful - they even upgraded us to a 2 bed apartment overlooking the pool at no extra cost - because it was available! We understand that Malia can be pretty frenetic in mid summer, but Mid- September was just great and we loved the sandy beach and the Old Town - espec.
all reviews » Socrates is a lovely hotel. Very friendly owners, Eva and George. Absolutely perfect pool area, with comfortable sunbeds and a wonderful garden. We got clean towels every day and the room was perfectly cleaned. It was about 200 m to the bus stop (32) to Hersonissos and to the beach 200-250 M. The hotel is perfectly situated in the countryside quiet yet central. I would definitely go back. And the transfer service I great. (A family with 16 and 9 year old kids). It's really a nice apartment, the location is perfect near to the old town and near also to the beach but in a quiet place. The swimming pool and the atmosphere around it was fantastic Eva, the recepcionist, suggested us a lot of places and helped us a lot... It is the best place to stay with the family: clean cosy rooms, friendly staff, beautiful territory, big, clean and warm pool, wonderful destination away from the roads but close to the beach, shops and restaurants. I highly recommend the Socrates Hotel!. We had a lovely time in Socrates! Hotel was beutiful, just like the pictures on the website! The owners were very friendly and helped us enough by transfering us to the airport! We totaly suggest a visit to their area, it is worth it!!!. I did like the room and the pool area and also the location of the hotel. Friendly people and always there to help you for any question. I will go back there in the future for sure. Also the price was very good for a hotel like this. Socrates hotel is amazing and excellent place! The location is great,near to the beach and the rooms is very nice for 4 star hotel. It was fine as we needed one more night in Malia, because our hotel was sold out. We liked almost everything, but be aware that these are not apartments in the true sense, as there is no living room, just bedroom(s) and a small dining/kitchen area. Also the beds are very hard!. The Wii-fi was not god. And it was very dark in the kitchen area. The beds was hard and knobby. The music in the poolbar was tiresome. They should play for their gests and not for their own taste. Nothing. We were a bit turned off by the fact that the young receptionist, was very short with us and acted as if we were trying to sneak people in the hotel. We had two other friends with us that had flights later on that evening and they briefly placed their bags in our rooms, and we all went to the beach. And before they left, we even ate at your restaurant. The overnight Guy (yannis?) was very nice and helpful.
