Stayed at Marble House again for a 2nd time gives me the impression that they have a continues improvement in almost everything. Greeted by Christos upon check-in, looked like I was coming home. The whole family is perfect, with great suggestions ready to prepare your itinerary. They even print their own maps of the city with places of interest for your visit. Rooms are updated, very clean and daily made from the housekeeping, with excellent WiFi connection. But what is unique for this prope.
all reviews » Everything in that place was wonderful. Very helpful and friendly people there. A lot of information about the visiting areas in Athens and also information on how to visit each place. The room was excellent and very clean. They give us everything we needed without charge. They even extend our check out until night without charge. It was also provided a computer with WiFi without charge. The location of the hotel is very near from the Athens city centre (10 mins walk). Very friendly staff (we received an email with the coordinates of the hotel, before arriving there; at the hotel, the receptionist helped us with a map of Athens that was very useful), great location (in the center of the city), the room, all the (furniture) design of the hotel, quiet street; to sum up, we felt very nice and cosy there, if we came back to Athens, we would check in again here. Marble House is in a safe area of the city and within easy walking distance of the Acropolis, Plaka, and all the major sites and flea market. There are many delicious, authentic Greek restaurants nearby and the staff was very helpful with recommendations, maps, and directions. Reasonably priced as well, and comfortable, welcoming atmosphere at this family run business. It is very close to the main road and metro and to the Acropolis, yet there is no noise just birdsong and trees. Also bakeries and shops in 5 mins distance. Bedsheet and towels were changed every day. The owners are friendly, helpful and speak English well; there's pc access as well. I loved to "walk home" into that street with lovely orange trees on the sides :). We received a friendly email just before our trip welcoming us to the Marble House with directions by taxi or subway. The manager at the Marble house was very friendly and took the time to go over a map of where everything was and how to get there, and very importantly, a part of Athens not to go. Cute place out of the noise of the city too. Very nice, cosy hotel. It was a family-run business and you could easily perceive its "homey" feeling. The location is quite good, very near to Veikou street and the Acropolis area (5 min walk). The rooms are modest, but they have everything you might need. The owner and manager of the place was very very friendly. Christos and his mother were very pleasant people to talk to and the place was very clean. Simple yet elegant and located on a narrow alley street with plenty of trees and a lovely outdoor patio where you could have an enjoyable continental breakfast in the morning for only 5 euro. I highly recommend it!. Marblehouse is a perfect place to stay in Athens, it is quiet and near to all places one wants to see, the staff is very friendly and helpfull. The rooms are nice and carefully designed. The whole place has individual charme and atmosphere. It belongs to a family and was grandfathers house before.... The owner is extremely attentive and kind and took care to send us an email before our stay, explaining step-by-step how to get to the hotel. The squeaking of the bed, the a/c was only available for an additional charge (but we were informed about this at the moment of booking, so it was no suprise there), small bathroom (it could get a little uncomfortable). The walls were very thin and as the name suggests, the whole place was marble so there was a lot of echo and you could hear people talking in the halls early in the morning. For the most part this wasn't a problem for us, but families with children were a little loud at some times when we were trying to sleep. The shower also did not have a shower curtain which made somewhat of a mess in the bathroom, but neither of these were deal breakers. There could've been some shelves in the bathroom or maybe just a glass for my toothbrush. There were no shower curtains - perhaps this would be one detail to improve in the future. The hard beds. I, however, have a very sensitive back. It would be better to have a buffet for breakfast (Christos, the owner wants to realize this with extra rooms in the neighbourhood if the seson is running well) For older people with heavy luggage it might be a problem that there is no elevator (but the staff helps with the luggage ). We had no information about breakfast, but as the area has several bakeries and supermarkets had no problem to find something to eat. We think was good if have curtains in the bathroom because it gets all wet. Don't visit Athens for more than a day and a half. The Acropolis and its surrounding sites are great to see but the city unfortunately looks as if its crumbling and abandoned. If you're visiting Greece, spend most of your time on the islands and skip Athens if you are deciding between it and something else!. The triple room we get was a bit small. Nothing. No complaints at all. We had a shared bathroom but it didn't bother us at all. • The shower in the shared bathroom does not have a shower curtain. Bathroom is very small so everything gets wet. Quadruple room is a bit small, with little furniture, only beds, small table and wardrobe with fridge inside. We had not much space to put our luggage. Only 2 sockets in the room, one inaccessible, so I had to unplug the fridge to charge the battery for my camera. The doors are very thin so you can hear all sounds from the corridor. small bathroom - can't take a shower without spilling water all over thin walls - noisy maybe 5 minutes walk too far from city center. Have to pay for air conditioning and Athens was in a heat wave when we were there. Also could not pay for coffee only...had to buy breakfast to get coffee. Small bathroom. Our room has an air-conditioning, but has no TV. Towels are old, so we used our own ones. The beds were a bit uncomfortable. Small rooms. No curtain in the bathroom. everything was fine. Bathroom is uncomfortable: no hairdryer, no shower curtain, the door to the bathroom is a sliding one and with a glass, so it is hard to have a shower without noise heard in the room itself. It's hard to find for the first time. It's a little bit far away from the Metro, or the central part of the city. no free breakfast. Nothing. no big lobby. no breakfast. no TV. Nothing. None. Although we had a kitchenette there was nothing in it. The room was a bit warm in Summer. The shower was just a hand held head, a little awkward. But clean and good otherwise. No air conditioning and no elevators. Initially tried to give us a twin room. Had to pay extra for A/C - I don't remember seeing that in the description when I booked. no elevator.
