Very friendly and humorous staff. Nice, clean and spacious room/bathroom. Conveniently located next to Altona station with easy access to everywhere. We had reserved paid parking in the basement but still the receptionist gave us the choice to cancel it and park on the street for free. Free Wifi. This is the place to stay if you are in Hamburg with friends. I was totally impressed with the Hotel and it's staff and not to mention the close proximity to the public train system. Best bang for your buck for those travelers looking to country hop and need a clean and comfortable room. I've been traveling in Europe for two months and will now only stay at Meininger Hotels. Thanks again for the A+ experience.
all reviews » Though this is billed as a budget hostel-style hotel, my single room was quite expensive. That said, I found it good value for money - the room was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the hotel was surprisingly quiet at night. The breakfast is plentiful and varied, and well worth the cost. The personal was very friendly and helpful. WIFI is very fast in the room. Was possitive surprised that room had a sofa to sit on. Breakfast buffet was rich with a good selection considering what they are charging. letsbookhotel.com said I would receive a discount upon registering which they could not allow. I chose to pay the advertised price instead of calling letsbookhotel.com to discuss. Elevator was slow but bearable. nice large rooms, good housekeeping. large breakfast with huge variety at reasonable cost. you could also book Hamburg card at the reception which was very handy. location is very close to altona station. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and nice. The location is very convenient. I will definitely keep this Meininger Hotel in mind for my next visit to Hamburg. Breakfast was good but the there wasn't much choice. The place is essentially a hostel and has a bit of a backpacker vibe (some hotel-style rooms and some dorm rooms). However, even though I was travelling on business, this didn't impact my stay. Probably used to an english breakfast. Nearly nothing. But, sometimes the prices are very high. impossible to get i-net connection in room. We had to wait till 15.00 to check in to our room, one hour after we arrived. Beds and pillows need an improvement. Free Wifi did not work in room. could do atleast with a small resturant as there were a good number of guests. Wifi was not available in all rooms and the all-you-can-eat breakfast was a big disappointment. Wifi did not reach room. All good. Early check out,11am!?. I asked for a double duvet and ended up with 2 singles' The cost of breakfast too expensive for what was on offer. Described as Hamburg City Centre Hotel. It is in Altona, 5km from Hamburg city centre. One lift which is very hard to get mainly in peak hours. Flooring needs refurbishment. too many teenagers staying at the hotel who stayed up all night and made noise. Location was a little far from the centre but very near a main train station which still meant getting everywhere was easy enough. Two single beds as a double, showers were inconvenient. A little more expensive than other hotels/hostels with similar facilities. Lifts are often very slow. The shower was a bit loose (room 308), but really it was the only small thing we could possibly have criticised. I would highly recommend this hotel for any young visitors to Hamburg. It is probably not the right place for older travellers, but it was perfect for us. I had booked a room for 4 but only 3 beds were made, the 4th one had sheets which we had to put ourselves (bunk bed so not very easy). There were no towels in our room even though they were provided later when we asked. It looked like incomplete housekeeping. I have had better facilities for the same price so I wouldnt call it a good price/quality ratio. Parking costs 12.5 EUR, - a bit on the high end. The floor of the room is not so clean, dusty. It looks like a student hotel because sometimes make noise in the night. Slow lift. the rest. - the very late check in time (3 PM) - expensive breakfast - minimalistic rooms (bed, chair, desk) very cold, no rugs on the hard wooden floor - no coffee making facility in room (at least a kettle to make tea) - when I asked at the reception for an extra blanket they weren't sure they could provide one. Breakfast buffet was not very good. Hotel was fully booked. My reservation was overbooking, so finally they relocated me in another hotal far away from my desired location as I was in a bussiness trip. Personel was nice.
