Staff - Extremely helpful and professional. Room - Plenty of it - loved the separate lounge to bedroom. Location - not far from central Tahiti - Shell servo shop next door. Short stroll to the central market and great restaurants near the hotel. It was excellent that when we arrived early in the morning after a red eye flight we were given towels, shampoo and soap and were able to freshen up in the spa shower rooms. Great location to explore Papeete.
all reviews » The hotel was a couple of blocks from the pier where the Paul Gauguin docks (Quai de Paquebots). There was a mini-mart right next door to the hotel where you could buy snacks, etc. Very good, close location for cruise ship. Friendly staff. Spacious, clean, well appointed rooms. Early check in/late check out appreciated. Bag storage. Free Wi Fi in lobby. within walking distance to the cruise ship. Food available at convience store in shell station next door. Allowed us to store luggage after check out for midnight flight. Very spacious junior suite with kitchen. Very modern room design. Next to the Hotel is a Petrol Station with a quite good selection of Food. Plenty of parking availible. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean quiet room. Good location for walking Papeete. We had a good stay for our holiday in Tahiti would certainly recommend to our friends. Efficient check-in; comfortable beds; excellent, very quiet restaurant for lunch/dinner (not breakfast); very convenient walking access to Papeete city centre. There was noise outside our room (#405) made by young motorcyclists who were racing up and down the street, egged on by the families standing on their balconies in the apartment complex across the street. You should try to get a room on the other side of the hotel. Strange corridor lighting. No informal coffee shop or real atmosphere. No milk in room for coffee. No apparent room service. Hotel could be anywhere - little to remind one one is in Tahiti. Second floor pool in complete shade from mid-afternoon onwards. Little/no response from hotel manager to questions/requests prior to arrival. Very dark bathroom. Lack of basic maintenance. The front of the hotel was very dirty and in need of a water blast or detergent scrub. A pity when high quality materials have been used. To the right of the front doors a column block was broken and in need of replacing.The lobby is excellent. The room had several cracked floor tiles and the bath plug was missing. The hairdryer was inoperative. A pity when the competition, the resort hotels are in our experience better maintained. A few things in the kitchen needed more cleaning. We were on our way to Moorea and booked two nights as we had a 1 AM arrival, the ferry to Moorea only runs morning to early evening and thought we might want an extra day to see Papeete. The city was not very nice, kind of third world, if I ever go back I would get out to one of the resorts on Tahiti or an outer island as soon as possible. Lost in translation issues...had asked for day room and they didn't say they didn't do it..had to pay full. Small maintenance issues It would not take much to fix. Lounges and lounge sets in room and in hotel lobby were far too low and offert little by way of support and comfort. No face washer supplied in the bathroom. Having arrived from another country, we were very thirsty and the fridge is only activated when you put the key in the slot to turn all the lights on. So the water was warm once we accessed some.Would have appreciated a water cooler in the foyer easily accessible to quench our thirst (as we arrived late at night from off our International flight.). Cold showers Very average service and cold food in the breakfast room Expensive. Breakfast staff need a reminder that the customer is generally right Recommendations would have to be qualified. Breakfast buffet was good but was overpriced. Rooms beside main avenue are a bit noisy, but not so much. The suits are on two levels. The first floor has a kitchen and large sitting area. The bathroom and sleeping loft are on the second level. Not good for someone who has mobility issues. Breakfast is expensive. Tiny pool, hidden restaurant, aquasize class taking over the pool time. Overpriced food. Room was a bit clinical. Bathroom - floor flooded while showering due to poor design and no shower curtain - hopeless!. Nothing. Very noisy room from the cars on the road directly outside. - poor location. Hotel is on an extremely busy street with a gas station right next door. That being said, it is a short walk to the food trucks at the waterfront. Id suggest staying on a high floor to avoid road noise. -shower looks elegant. However design is flawed and water spills everywhere. This is a once pretty nice hotel that is in decline. they are saving money by not turning on the lights. The common areas are like a cave -- very dark. The lobby uses A/C only if it has to. Our room was on the street side, and the street is a main PPT drag: very noisey. A little pricey for what it was, and food facilities expensive. spartan -- no entertainment -- no bellboys -- poor lighting -- depressing -- no English language programming on TV. Internet just in the lobby The price is exagerated Long time to check in. The corridors were dark and our shower leaked all over the floor and there was a lot of notice from the petrol station right next to the hotel. The noise! We were in 308,at the front corner,next to the petrol station where their generator was running all night ! And,it was Saturday night so the boy racers were zooming up n down the street making lots of noise! Not easy to sleep!. Volue of money is not real for such hotel. Rooms required maintenance. not enough ilumination in bathroom and bedroom. gym is decent, but hours of use arr 9-7pm, which i dont like, I paid 280$ for a junior suite, and feel it, aswell as all hotels in the area are expensive, also you can hear your neighbors pretty well, when they move furniture. The air conditioner leaked badly. I mentioned the problem twice, the housekeeper saw the trash can collecting water everyday, and yet for four days, nothing was done to fix this problem. I would not recommend that anyone stay at this hotel because of this poor response to a major problem in my room. Traffic noise kept us awake. For such a new hotel, pool was neglected - loose decking and strong smell of rubbish. Street outside was grubby, can't understand why they decided to build a decent hotel here. Lastly, very poor value - could get a better hotel in any EU capital for this money. Extremely disappointed by the hotel and staff at Hotel Tahiti Nui. I really wouldnt recommend this hotel and there are much more pleasant places to stay in Papeete.
