  We initially planned to break our journey home from the south of France in Paris but after a little consideration decided that it would provide an excellent opportunity for a visit to Monet’s garden at Giverny. We selected Les Jardins du Val because of the excellent reviews on letsbookhotel.com and we were not disappointed. Breakfast was - The hotel is wonderful and I highly recommend it to everyone. It is located in a small village in an old house. There're only 3 or 4 rooms. Our room had its own entrance from the garden and the bathroom had windows to the garden - it was awesome.The host was more than kind. He helped us plan our further journey, suggested how to visit Monet house in Giverny when it is least crowded and gave lots of other useful advices about travelling in Normandy.   My friend and I had a comfortable, roomy and clean triple room with private bathroom, quiet at the back of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast with plenty of choice including fresh fruit and scrambled egg and French type bacon. The bedroom and bathroom were was lighter and brighter than shown in the photos with clean white towel... what people say » s each day in the bathroom. Only about a 10 minute walk to the station for the shuttle bus to Giverny for Monet's garden and a good bar for an evening - Vernon is very close to Giverny (4 kilometers) which is why we chose this hotel. It was quite reasonable for 2 nights at 176 Euro. Basic hotel rooms....no frills but fine and clean. Restaurant good and lounge for drinks for tea very comfortable with leather overstuffed chairs. Staff very helpful. Walking to the village, church, museum and restaurants within minutes. Sweet village.

  The house was built in the 15th century so is perfectly rustic. We had the two attic rooms (each had a shower in the room and we shared a hall toilet). The rooms were charmingly decorated to match the historic age of the house. Moderate size rooms - with room to easily walk around beds and place luggage. The breakfast the next morning was tea, coffee, juice, fresh bread with butter and jams - at whatever time we desire - the location was good, Giverny is a nice little village that comes alive during the day when the day visitors arrive but in the evening a relaxing place. To get from Vernon train station with luggage take the taxi, which can require a wait as there are only about 3 that we saw. the cafe over the road will order one for you as the taxi stand seemed always empty. your host Eric very accomadating. nice old farm house type rooms, nice for 1 or 2 days.
