Our stay was like a dream come true. We loved the old paintings, spiral stairs, velvet, exposed beams and historical ambiance. The location is amazing--just steps away from Centre Pompidou. Norte Dame is also very near and makes a great nighttime stroll. We didn't opt for breakfast, but Julian patisserie was right out front and had the best pastry, baguettes, and coffee we had on our whole trip. Also, the staff was incredibly charming, funny and good-natured.

I've stayed here 3 times (twice before it had a refurbishment), and I usually try a new hotel each time I visit Paris, but enjoy staying here. had a room at the front this time with a very Parisian view, and the sound of church bells in the morning. The staff was very helpful, the location great -- the caveat is you are situated literally on two busy streets (albeit one a walking only street) a floor above a busy sidewalk cafe and one just across the street (20 yards away). Fun, crazy night life with noise and smoke drifting up and into the room. If that isn't your scene, maybe not the place for you. The location was perfect for us, very close to the Centre Pompidou, cafes and bars and all the attractions of Paris. The Hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed and totally charming and comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We loved Hotel St Merry. The hotel location is so amazing! You are right in the heart of Paris. It's perfect for visiting the city. The deco is very traditional and a bit austere. But it's beside a church, so what do you expect?! On higher floor you can see the roofs of other buildings, very Parisian indeed!. The hotel is in a brilliant location for bars restaurants and seeing the cities tourist attractions. The staff were extremely helpful and polite which made our stay even better! Breakfast is brought up to your room at whatever time you please this is a nice added feature!. Location, location, location! Walking distance to many major sites and in the center of many restaurants reasonably priced. Liked that it was not pretensious nor seedy-just comfortable as if I was a real Parisian. Wonderful environment. It was very unusual to have stone beams in the room, over the bed. But the gothic style everywhere in the Hotel gave the visit a very special feeling. We have stayed at this hotel for over 20 years. The location and decoration are very good as well as the space. good location. The location is good, just next to the Beaubourg, in a medieval street away from large and noisy boulevards. It is also close to the Marais and to the RER A and B (the line to CDG airport). The fairly large room was furnished in pseudo-gothic style with reasonably pretty paintings in renaissance and 1800's style. The stone building is a very old annex to the church of St. Merry, so in a way unusual and picturesque. wireless. No complaints!. As it was a room at the front, the street outside was quite noisy, though it was the weekend. I'd still stay here again though. sometimes you want a bit of Parisian noise!. Okay with me but: no tv, no breakfast, loud outside the windows (although quieted by closing the old windows it wasn't silenced and tough in the warm weather when they need to be open since the ac is neglible). At least two narrow, winding flights of stairs up to rooms and no elevator. Can't be avoided but stairs could be a problem with anyone who has a disability or lots of luggage. Since the weather was warm we had the windows open and there was a bit of noise. There is no elevator. Neither issue was a problem for us. Lots of stairs from street to lobby and from lobby to rooms ... staff will carry luggage so no problems there. no elevator.noisy during evening. No lift ( not essential). WIFi and TV signals were poor but this was reported to the reception. bedroom too small and too expensive. No elevator. Considering that the room was on the 4th floor and that stairs in Paris and narrow and uneven, it tended to wear one down. No breakfast except for room service and the bars near the hotel seem to be rather geared towards nightlife than early-morning breakfast. No TV in room. hotel style bathroom needs a renovation no lift reception is not charming at all (first floor) with people working around.
