This is a lovely Chambre d'Hotes, in a beautifully restored old building around courtyards, decorated in French country style, and very chic. It is very close to the town centre and picturesque harbour, but is quiet and peaceful inside. The breakfasts are quirky and delicious - home-made cakes & chocolate mousse, as well as artisan breads, cheeses and home-made jams. The staff are friendly, very helpful, and available all day. The bedrooms were comfortable, warm, very pretty, with en suite .
all reviews » It was a wonderful and charming little hotel converted from an old girls school. The young couple there in the day spoke good English and were very helpful, and the woman around in the morning was very charming and helpful despite not speaking English. Breakfast was in the courtyard on a sunny morning. The room was charming and had wooden beams. A real fantastic place where we spent one night, centrally located next to the marina and an abundance of restaurants. A really quirky gem of a place right in the cobbled centre of beautiful Honfleur. Organic products for breakfast and to purchase if desired with friendly staff. The room itself was designed well within the old attic with views over the pretty enclosed courtyard which had interesting vistas, flora and fauna in the shape of two cats and some love birds. Felt very peaceful with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Excellent, you should stay here. This individual hotel has plenty of character and history. Includes inner courtyards. The room we stayed in was huge - with another very large sitting room. Staff are beautiful people and very helpful - included assistance carrying luggage up the stairs, We ate at the restaurant, and whilst very good, we had basically the same choice for breakfast - I would recommend eating elsewhere for dinner. The quirky decor and well-sized rooms and the quiet of the house and the area. All the staff were extreemely helpful and fireidly and whisked our luggage upstairs without a murmur! A good jiob, for the stairs are somwewhat challenging, but the room we had was well worth the climb! A lovely and extensive breakfast served in the attractive courtyard by further welcoming and helpful staff. We loved the old timbered building with rooms facing onto little courtyards at ground and first floor level. There were many nooks and crannies to investigate. The fact that it had once been a girls' school still lived on by clever use of blackboards and messages! It was lovely! Staff were friendly and it felt like friends rather than a hotel. We were warmly welcomed and given a bigger room than we booked because we were the only guests that night. Our room was a delight with lots of space and interesting artefacts from the old school. We loved the cats leading us to our room. This is a unique place to stay. The building is like a preserved museum piece with beautifully quirky large rooms and excellent facilities. The staff were warm and friendly and the location in the heart of Honfleur is excellent. Parking was a bit of a challenge, as it is in one of the small cobbled streets of the town. There is local free parking over the road, usually full, and a reliable car park (free) about 5 mins walk away. The staff gave us a map and marked parking on it, which made it easy to find. If you have difficulty walking, the stairs are quite uneven, and you would need to specifically request a downstairs room. Not much, parking is a little problematic but not the fault of the hotel. Also,if one returns when the main entrance is shut you are given a key and required to use a locked side gate. We found this tricky to open and eventually rung the main doorbell. One of the staff came to our help immediately and with no complaint even though it was gone 10pm and inevitably opened the gate straight away!. Nothing - loved the place and people running it. Parking was a problem and could only be found at a distance from the hotel, although there was a nearer one, it was alsways full. Don't let it deter you though, a really individual and memorable visit. Our duplex consisted of kitchen facilities and table downstairs with narrow spiral staircase leading to first floor bedroom. Very charming but difficult for carrying suitcases upstairs. Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. The breakfast was OK but somewhat limited. Steep steps to room. A tad pricey!. Water not hot enough for bath. A full length mirror would have been useful... That we had to leave to catch a ferry. The stairways to the upper room was very tricky - not suitable for aged or people having any problems of equilibrium. Nothing. nothing. It is very quirky and the access to our bedroom was up a very narrow spiral staircase. The bedroom floor has a four inch drop between the bed area and where the toilet is, so if you get up during the night then you've a good chance of falling. Parking - we had to use a public car park half a mile away. difficult to find, but worth the effort. Cats. Damp in ground floor. No shower - only a bath. Nothing loved it all. Roaming cats through property in particular in dining area.
