We arrived at Tanoa Skylodge from an early flight and the staff did all they could to get us to our room as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the first room we were taken to was filthy, dark and horrible. After going back down to reception to complain, we were moved to a much better room within an hour or so and the staff did all they could to accommodate us. Certain members of staff were amazing, including one of our maids and a few of the reception staff. They were friendly and always smiling .
all reviews » We stayed for 8 days at Talanoa Fales and it was just perfect for us. Fully self contained with cooking facilities meant we didn't always have to eat out and were able to prepare a packed lunch to take on our adventures around the Island. We loved having our own "home" and not being separated by a wall from other guests. We were encouraged to help ourselves to fresh fruit in the garden and the staff were really lovely. Would highly recommend this place to all +++AAA. The housekeeping staff, the reception staff, the friendly security guards, the restaurant and bar staff and last but not least, the GM, Raj. The big lawns and beautiful trees around. The housekeeping staff respecting customers when in their rooms. Mere is a wonderful person. I booked a family apartment because it had its own kitchen. It was in a converted house with seven other rooms. The houses are in landscaped grounds and have easy car access. A short walk to the bar, dinning room and pool. Close to airport, 24 hour reception desk,rooms quite spacious, bed comfortable, everything provided for that was needed e.g., tea coffee making facilities. Air-conditioning works well. The room was great! Enjoyed Gordy's for dinner and had some good facilities. Also the gift shop was ggood and reception was very helpful, especially with airport transfers. Good facilities which were comfortable and clean. Reasonable prices for very good food. Handy to airport. Great stopover point for travellers in and out of Fiji. Friendly Staff. Clean facilities. We just needed a cheap stopover hotel, we got what we paid for, it served its purpose being close to the airport with friendly staff. Just dropped our bags and went on island tour, back again to refresh before dparture flight. The food was good, they bed was good. It was cheap. Not a lot. Nothing!. Nothing. Some members of staff were unfriendly and rude. Occasionally the water would go off but you get that in the Islands. It comes on again soon enough!. Nothing. The rooms are not very sound proof and if there was a noisy family next door would be a problem. Shower and bathroom needs renovate. Tiles in bathroom shower look like need a good scrub on the grouting and the shower curtain needs more hooks and replaced with larger curtain, but all in all it wasn't too bad. Close to main rd so bit of traffic noise. Airport shuttle was fine but time specified to leave was inaccurate and had to wait 20-25 mins after early wake up and rush to be ready. Nothing. When we booked the room on our booking it was writtern 2 double bed, but when we went in the room it had 1 double and 1 single bed, which I hade one 18yrs old daughter and 13 yr old son couldnt sleep on the bed at the same time so my son slept on the wooden coach, which was very unpleasant, they shouldnt have than charge us $99.00 I booked the room for the beds. The food was ok though not much variation to pick from they should have wide rige of food. I waited almost an hour for the shuttle at the airport, had to chase it up with airport staff - very annoying when i was tired and feeling unwell. Iam a duty of a 4 star hotel in New Zealand, I only recomend if the cups and glass can be washed, while the room is on service as I can see housekeeping only make beds when they do service and maybe a tea towel in each room too.Tea and coffee sachet should be top up too every day. No pool towels available and bath towels weren't delivered to our room until after 6pm & we had no coffee or tea in our room though we requested twice. I booked an appt with 2 bedrooms but it only had 1 bedroom with 2 beds - its a little old and run down but its ok cos we only really slept in the room and were out on tours for the days there. Room was run down and noisey - linen was clean but very tired. Swimming pool did not look clear and had a lot of debri floating in it. Generator extremely noisey during power cuts. Pre-made wrap instead of a Roti served with Curry Meal !. We were there on a Saturday as stopover for International flight at 8am next morning. Needed to get up at 4am so wanted early night. Live band started at 9.30pm and finished after 11pm. You could 'feel' the bass in the room. Too loud and couldn't get any sleep. It was so loud I don't think it would matter what room you were in. Receptionist was off-hand and unhelpful. She first told us our room was cancelled. Rubbish. Another staff came and gave a room but 1 bed short. Another friend staying there came to rescue. Then only two towels provided fro 3 days. Had to go and buy another. Remote control for A/C is off another model so could not control it properly. Shower head needs replacing and vanity taps leak. And worst off all, it is the worst bed I've ever slept on, its a full banana. room run down and very small. we were in a low cost room. The restaurant food is poor. shower in bathroom not cleaned ,hair in drain and rubbish left in soap holder. Hotel room very old, probably dates back to the '80s. Old springy beds, not good for my partner with back problem. Rooms and hotel are very old and tired. The rooms were old and rundown. No flannel or extras in bathroom.Very noisy until 11.30 pm and noisy again from 7.15 am. The Hotel was compared to Tanoa International but no comparison. Everything else The food was terrible and ridiculously over priced!! The cleaners would scream to each other down the hall ways at 5am in the morning. And when you confront them they mock you! If I ever go back to Fiji I will not be staying here!. Lazy staff. Poor service. Not the accomodation that we had requested. Noisy. The loud bar music playing til 11pm that stopped us from sleeping, the badly designed rooms that were pokey and dark, the loud air conditioning units, no towels given to us to use in the pool as were were early to check in. The courtesy shuttle was not there as we requested it to be at 6am on our departure and finally the very rude man who drove us to the airport nearly refused to take us back to the hotel to collect one of our bags that we had left there by mistake.
