Would recommend the jazz bar next door for a great choice of cocktails!. The Charles was a fantastic hotel very warm and welcoming especially as it was minus five outside. It is a great location virtually on the Charles Bridge in easy distance to the Castle and all the main attraction. Breakfast was good plenty of choice and staff were pleasant. Will be back. the bedroom was huge and good organisation of the taxi. Location, location, location. Staff was very helpful and took care of any requests quickly. Great location, clean, friendly staff. The position of the hotel. The Charles is a lovely, very charming little hotel. The beds are so comfortable! Great mattress's and bedding. This was my second stay at the hotel and would consider staying there again. The location was central and convenient.The Charles is situated in a fantastic location and is a beautiful old building. Our room was HUGE and had a view of the street below. Excellent location in a beautiful part of the city. Very big comfortable room, very comfortable bed. Nice breakfast. Hot water/ shower facilities were excellent also.location, size of the rooms. Location. The location is excellent with close proximity to Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge. You can walk to the Old Town Square and most other points of interest. It is am unbelievably beautiful and historic city. The bathtub was a little small and there was no shower, but that's a very small complaint for what you get with this hotel.There was No milk for coffee. the breakfast basic continental breakfast and I did not like it. breakfast was basic. we skipped it the last 2 days of our 4 day stay. Could be a bit noisy early morning if u like to sleep with open window. Windows are not double glazed and rooms can be noisy with the bar downstairs and taxi's. There was no air conditioning in the rooms and was very hot while we were there. Had to open up the windows but with the windows facing the main street was very noisy. Also had a lovely little pub just next door but again, with the windows open was quite noisy.The breakfast could be improved. Also the laundry service is a bit unreliable. No air conditioning, and very noisy due to refurbishment going on. Tea/ coffee facilities in rooms would be nice.some late night noise from the street, usually people having had a few too many. Street Noise. Like many hotels in Europe the Bathtub had high sides making it very difficult to get into and out of when taking a shower. I am a 76 and this would be less of a problem for someone younger. The free breakfast was marginal with an unfriendly attendant. One morning clerk had difficulty with English.

Hotel information details

This architecturally interesting medieval building of the romantic Hotel Charles Prague offers the highest international standards of comfort and convenience while maintaining the charm of the historical and romantic setting of the Lesser Town – Mala Strana. The building is an original Gothic residential house, built in the middle of the 13th century when defensive ditches and ramparts were replaced by buildings and streets. Remains of previous ramparts are still preserved in the basement.

The house was burnt down during the Hussite wars and then renewed again in 1503. Expensive renovations were carried out during the Renaissance period, in the second half of the 16th century. The third floor was built in baroque style in 1686. The Lion’s masks on the facade of third floor facing Mostecka street are the patrons of the building. The early-Baroque portal is visible from Josefska Street. In 1865 the staircase leading from the basement all the way to the attic was built.

The Charles Hotel Prague was established in 1890. The last renovation was done in 2008.
