Location, location, location....right in the heart of Diocletian's Palace and the old city. Great atmosphere and access to shops, restaurants and bars. Staff was very helpful, location was great, roooms were not cookie-cutter, each different, no problems with anything. Location, room, air-conditioning, cleanlinees, helpfulness of staff. Its locality was wonderful in the Diocletian Palace. Slightly tricky to locate but only needed a little wandering in the palace lanes to bump into it. I was expecting something smaller and more run down than I actually found so was really pleasantly impressed that I had got the wrong image of the place. Very noisy until 2.30 in morning as hotel is over a couple of bars but you can't complain about how central the hotel is.The street coffee-bar (Impuls?) created a lot of noise during the late hours-impossible to sleep even with the windows closed!. being the oldest hotel in split i did think it had no original character. noisy but that was really to be expected!. breakfast only adequate, shower far too small, (couldnt turn around), a bit pricey for off season...But it sits directly alongside two late night bars (on either side of the buidling). And on some nights ear plugs were needed to try and sleep.. 1. A walking map to the hotel on arrival would help. 2. A blog warned us about weekend noise. True-we fell asleep at 2.30 a.m. The beds are single, even though you ask for a double bedded room and the single beds are for the size of children. Needs a bit of a clean!!!. stairs, no lift. Noise. Breakfast room too small and uncomfortable.Thin walls. It is very much in need of renovation internally. Room was very small, I felt the accomodation was actually very expensivefor what you get. The a/c was a bit noisy and no lifts. uacceptable noise coming from the bar nearby. Could not hear ourselves in the room. Closing the window was the solution, but unfortunately airconditioning was blowing on me, poor breakfast, small breakfast room. Air conditioning problems.Too much noise from the bars outside.

This 17th-century building rests within the walls of the Roman Palace complex. The reception area incorporates an old stone arch into an invitingly airy lobby with wicker chairs and settees. Rooms come in a selection of shapes and sizes. Hotel Slavija is open 24 hours and there is always someone at the reception desk, so do not worry if you are arriving late at night. If you are coming early in the morning, you can leave your luggage at the reception desk and come back later to check in.

Information about the area

The location is the Slavija's great attraction. Our hotel is located in Diocletian's palace, so there are lot of interesting things to see. The first one would be the main square called Peristil. It is the centre of the palace and is about 1700 years old. On that square there is also the main church of Split, the cathedral of St. Duje (he is the patron saint of Split). From the top of the cathedral (60 metres) you enjoy the most beautiful view of Split.

Don't miss the Roman Mausoleum under the ground, the ethnographic museum, the art gallery and the city museum (all situated in the palace), the Jupiter temple and the smallest street in the whole world! Its name is "Let me pass through" because only one person at a time can pass it.

Travelling information

The hotel is located just
- 200 metres from the airport bus terminal (at the main street called Riva)
- 300 metres from the train and bus station
- 300 metres from the port
- 60 metres from the main street Riva.

It will take you around 30 minutes (45 in the summertime traffic) by bus or car to get to our hotel from the airport. If you are coming with your own car just follow the signs for the centre of town or to the ferry station.
