The staff were consistently helpful and friendly; I arrived very early in the morning but they allowed me to change to a different kind of room so I could check in early, and to have breakfast at the impressive buffet. Many of them speak English, some very well. The room was good and comfortable, and high enough (on the 14th floor) to be mostly insulated from the noise of traffic and construction from the street. Should I go back to Kunming I'll have no hesitation staying there again.
all reviews » We booked standard room with breakfast at the hotel. But on arrival got also complimentary coupons for lunches and dinners daily, and instead of standard room - wonderful suite. Daily we had new fruit basket in room. It is always possible to find at least one person at the reception, who speaks English (English in Kunming is not common). Personal is friendly and cooperative. Good quality room and facilties, excellent breakfast both Chinese and Western, good selection. My wife and I spent 3 nights here each night sound sleep, location is very good to shopping and restaurants. Additional bonus is airport 919b bus stop is only a few metres from hotel which is express direct to airport, recommended by us. The staff were great, despite limited English, and really made an effort to answer all my questions. When I forgot to empty my safe on check out and came running back an hour later, they sprang into action and made sure I got my stuff back. Extremely happy with the hotel. They did everything possible to make my stay comfortable by allowing early check-in and delayed check-out at no extra cost. House keeping make me feel at home. The hotel location is right at the city center and can be reach by Airport express bus at RMB 13. If you require transportation service, go the hotel and ask the counter. The staff were very welcoming with excellent English, but the hotel was a little past its prime -- was probably quite nice when it was first built, but now has a tired, made-in-the- 80s feeling. The ac in my room didn't work and I could only open the window a little. There was an assortment of odd amenities (shoe polish...pencil sharpener...six kinds of condoms) in the room. Nice tv wit. Hotel is situated on one of the major city street, so restaurants, shops, malls, coffee places and city attractions are on walking distance. And let's face it, it's in Kunming, which you only stop in if you have to. Nothing except the smoke of tobacco in common places. But hotel staff has no control on this probably. Breakfast selection are fair but not good as enough. Can be further improved. last day taxi driver did not use taxmeter (happened just once so I was out of guard). Airport bus shuttle operators appeared not to have heard of this hotel. Little English spoken (though just enough and staff were friendly.). Needs more English speaking staffs, even travel desk clerk can not speak any words,only Chinese. Lack of English amongst staff - except for reception staff no other service staff spoke English Breakfast was unremarkable. no reading lamp in bed; no diet coke in the minibar. Breakfast was mainly Chinese style - but at least we had one!. They asked deposit, which was not previously stated. Difficult to get a taxi to the airport, though this is not the fault of the hotel. there are not services aircon. It took too long to checkin (about 20 minutes). Be aware that the hotel will charge 15% over the price shown in the booking. Moreover, they will ask for a security deposit. I did not like that the bathroom had glass walls. There is no aircon in the afternoons as the central aircon is switched off. Not sure if this is the general practice in Kunming. There is no express bus to and from airport. So if you take the rmb 13 express bus from airport to town, you need to take a taxi from town to hotel. The taxi charges from hotel directly to airport is about rmb 120, which is based on negotiation with taxi driver (trip to airport not based on meter). In the avenue of the Hotel in Kunming there are busy building Kunming's subway. And the works don't stop during the night... Gym equipments are not well serviced and old. Cold in public areas Limited English No menu in English. Staff speaks hardly any English... smelled of smoke. old carpeting with nails sticking out of floor. Room facilities. Every noisy because of the road construction and staff not friendly.
