Very well run hostel. Rooms very clean but basic. Good value for the price, we wanted a cheap clean, comfortable room for a quick overnight stay in Guilin and the Backstreet Backpackers provided just that. They replied quickly when I emailed them for information about transport to the Hostel as we arrived during the crazy Chinese New Year period and had to deal with overpriced taxis, information sent back quickly and very useful, thankyou.
all reviews » The location is amazing! Near to the principal touristic points in Guilin, helping us to make most of tours by walking. And around the hostel there are lots of stores, supermarket, restaurants, bus station, making your trip very convenient. On the reception area, lots of people enjoy together playing cards, reading books, magazines, watching movies, navigating on internet, talking each other, etc, it's a really nice atmosphere!. Awesome hostel crew, very helpful all the time, nice lounge for chatting and planning activities, located right of the pedestrian street with shops, bars and restaurant. Rooms have their own wet room with western toilet. Staff were good in helping us make the most of our time in Guilin. Comfortable area to relax and meet others. Rooms stark but clean and comfortable. Staff very understanding when I had to cancel mu first night at short notice. They also had the LP book!!! :-). Staff spoke good English and they are nice. The location is great!! Good value!. You could get to the train station and bus station really quickly but you would have to walk around the corner to the main road. It's fairly quiet and the standard twin room was nice and cool despite it being Summer when I was there. You could surf the Net free in the lobby.Staff spoke good English. held my luggage all day in a secure room. Staff spoke good English, and recommended and booked excellent Rice Terraces tour for us. They also booked hostel in Yongshou for us, which was very good value too. (Showbiz Inn). staff was OK and tried to help, good coffee, you can use the computer for free. Good location. locationis good, fortget the rest. Ok concrete floors everywhere and wifi a bit slow at times, but don't let this put you off. Wifi only in the lounge. They don't accept credit cards even though they say they do. Very slow in preparing breakfasts... do not have communal kitchen. Didn't like the fact that it was in a real touristy area with lots of crowds to spoil the serenity of the place. No Wifi in my room. The room door locks on the 3rd floor need serious maintenance or replacing as they are very shabby and hard to close which led to slamming of doors at all hours. Very poor Wi-Fi reception, and was only in lobby. Hard bed. Not a very good shower in the room. all others.
