We have stayed at The Tonquinn before and they were very good to us. We booked a double bed room, but because we forgot to mention we had a dog they only had two bed queen rooms available that were pet friendly. At the same rate we booked, they upgraded us! Staff is always very helpful. This recent time we were in a room above the utility room, and something in the utility room was extremely loud. all reviews » The sheets smelled so nice and clean. I think they are fairly newly renovated rooms. It's maybe a bit small for square footage in this room but we only had double beds and we were very comfortable sleeping here. The swimming pool looked so nice with the big windows but unfortunately we went to bed after our supper and didn't get a chance to use the pool. When we arrived they had no record of our booking, but they photocopied our confirmation form and upgraded us to a kitchenette, two roomed apartment. We were able to cook our meals because everything was provided, including a stove, microwave, toaster and full sized fridge, cooking implements, cutlery and crockery. The beds were also comfortable. The reception desk folks were warm and genuinely helpful and friendly. Our dog, a big Rottie was treated like a king wilth a nice food and water dish waiting, a doggie bed and doggy treats there to welcome him. The rooms were very nicely appointed and Finally... a place where the in-room coffee pot is large enough to have 2 cups each. we liked how all the staff were so friendly and helpful. We have stayed here two years in a row and are planning on staying here next year as well. The Prime Rib Villa is an awesome place to eat as well....Nic and his staff are so warm and friendly and really make you feel at home..... It was very aged friendly. I was travelling with my mother who is not very mobile - it was nice to have a handicapped parking spot close by and an elevator to our room on the second floor. I had forgotten to ask for handicapped access when I made the booking so it was a nice surprise. i think its a good value..Nicks place is pretty good.. indoor and out hot tubs and pool. ( even though we re always too late to get in the out door ones..full...lol ) good clean rooms ..etc..we always used to stay at Whistlers but dont think its worth the extra money any more. The indoor pool and hot tub was easily accesible, we did not try the outdoor hottubs but were impressed by the fact that the hotel had them! The nearby restaurant was one of the best steak places I have eaten at to this day, spectacular!. Beds were super comfortable. Very nice to have the full kitchen and separate bedroom (we weren't expecting it as we were upgraded for free due to lack of the standard queen rooms). Staff was very courteous, helpful and efficient. A neat,comfortable, clean hotel that left me feeling like it was a home away from home. No sounds from other guests was another plus. We will definitely stay here again and will recommend it to our family and friends!. Friendly staff, good location but old facility, needs upgrading. We had problem with heating and cooling. Two separate systems with one heating running all the time so we had to run separate cooling to compensate. I loved the fact that it was a pet friendly hotel and that they made the pet feel welcomed. The view from the front of the building (connaught) was beautiful. I liked how they provided chairs beside each door on the balcony to sit and gaze at the mountain scenery. The beds and bedding were excellent quality. Access to the second floor was good although we were required to walk around the stairs due to the kitchen door being open. The fish was extremely dry and had been previously frozen. For the price I had expected much better quality. The restaurant prices are far too high. The AC was broken in our room, but I assume this was an isolated incident. There were someone else's socks under the bed when we checked in. This made me wonder about the cleaning standards. Small bathroom and poor lighting in the room. There was a misunderstanding about tidying my room for I had checked in late in the afternoon so did not require the room cleaned when I went out for dinner. However, the room never got cleaned or tidied during my stay. I had enough towels and toilet paper & only ran out of tea which was promptly brought to my room; so the service overall was good apart from this mishap. Location - distance to stores and restaurants. the room could have been a little bigger or just 1 Queen bed instead of 2 doubles . Having to cross the parking lot to get to the pool and hot tub. -Room was a little bit cramped with too much "dead" space -Restaurant was on the expensive side. Room was cramped for four people, and could have used updating (or upgrading) of fixtures. Kitchen was tiny, with no cutting board and very little counter space. Real milk for in-room coffee maker would be nice. Laundry included for guests (and more than two washers and two dryers for the whole resort to share) would be good. Everywhere in Jasper is expensive, and this is no exception. I didn't like the loud air conditioner but my son liked the white noise. Food coupons were not offered with letsbookhotel.com. It would be better if we could check in a little earlier than 4:00pm. If weather is not good, it is harder to kill time waiting got check in. Otherwise all is good. the only thing that we didn't like was the young people that partied very late at night until the wee hours in the morning which kept our dogs up. Was looking forward to having dinner in their restaurant as it had been touted as having wonderful roast beef, but a tour beat me to the restaurant and I had to eat in the bar, and only it's menu which I thought was really unfair. I was very disappointed as I won't be back to Jasper for a while. The restaurant was closed so we had to go elsewhere. Not a big deal though to be fair as there are lots of options in Jasper. The heat was off in our room and window open (-15 outside) so our room was bitter cold. We did crank the heat and went for supper came back and it was cozy. We had a ground floor room which was rather dark and not very private. When we arrived the room was freezing and it took two hours to warm it up. We huddled in bed until the room warmed. The chimney flue had been left open and the temp outside was -30 so you understand why it took so long to warm up!. Asked for no stairs and was given room that I needed to go up six steps which was hard with luggage. n/a. the pool and hot tub areas were not very wheelchair accessible. there were stairs to all hot tubs. at least the pool was accessible, through a side door. jasper in general is not wheelchair friendly, but the tonquin was a bit better than average for the town. room was NOT clean. stained sheets that I had to hide from my wife, as she took back the oil and hole burned stained blanket. Staff was very nice and accomadating. you need to have a chat with your cleaning crew, or inspect rooms a little more often. The room was a bit small. It would have been nice to have a queen bed, instead of the two double beds. I appreciated that the beds were comfortable though. Breakfast was closed at 10 am. Outdoor hot tubs were not hot. I specifically chose a hotel with outdoor hot tubs. There is nothing better then an a relaxing soak after a long day on the mountain. It was disappointing. I just didn't like the location of the room we stayed in. The air conditioning did not work. It was extremely noisy.
