I found this place to be terrific value at us$69 per night which included a first-rate breakfast at the hotel's poolside cafe. My air-conditioned room came with a fan, a big balcony, an en-suite bathroom, fridge and 40" slim-line tv with over 60 channels. The hotel is located downtown close to the Royal Palace and the riverfront and the staff are excellent, - they couldn't do enough for guests. I didn't use the pool but it was large and beautifully set amongst plants and trees, with cabanas and.
all reviews » We stayed at the Plantation for three nights (check-in: May 2, 2013) and paid by credit card 230.50 usd. It is located behind the Royal Palace, right in in the historical center of Phnom Penh. The hotel is within walking distance of the National Museum, the Wat Botum (Royal Pagoda), the riverside with its bustling nightlife and the lively street 240. The staff at the front desk was pleasant and helpful. Due to problem with my Standard Double Room (Room #2001 on the ground floor) we have been up. We spent 2 nights at the Plantation... The location is superb.. Very central. The food was good but the options were limited (we are strict veggies) and there are number of pure veg take outs (local eating joints) bang opposite the hotel where you get superb cambodian food for dirt cheap ($1) if you manage to communicate with them. The hotel staff were willing to make fried rice, etc which was not on the menu (so that's good). About the property.. Its superb, very tastefully done up and romanti. This hotel was incredible! The second you walked through the entrance you are transported into luxury and relaxation. The instant change in atmosphere is just what we needed. The four poster bed gave us a bit of romance, the staff very friendly and helpful, the breakfast by the pool was excellent. if we had the time, we would've gladly extended our stay in this hotel. I was sorry to leave after only one night. They were happy to hold our luggage all day while we explored after checkout and the . The Plantation was a great choice for our first visit to Phnom Penh. It was conveniently located near to the Palace and the Riverside. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. There was never any noise even when people were in the pool. The staff were very attentive to every need and very helpful with booking a car for us to Siem Reap. Had a wonderful massage at the Spa which was well worth the money. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Plantation and have actually b. Staff all young and friendly, as well as efficient. Loved the pool area, food was good and accessible at all times. We visited The Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng prison and the Genocide museum, All a must see. The hotel is just at the back of the Royal Palace but getting there through the crazy traffic is like running a gauntlet. We got a driver for the day for $35. He took us to all the places we wanted to go and waited for us with cold water when we returned. This was an excellent investment a. The hotel location is incredibly convenient for exploring the city. We walked to almost all attractions without any problem. The hotel architecture is also interesting. As soon as you enter the door you seem to pass in another dimension. The reception and the pool area bring you years back to the colonial times. The rooms are interesting, although not my style with the bathroom in the room. No way to invite a friend in if you want to take a shower. The breakfast was very good offering many choi. The poolarea was beautiful, breakfast was lovely with a good variety to choose from, the rooms were spacious and coolafter the heat of the day, and the fact that they had a price list near the entrance and also in the room as to how much tuk-tuks were to various places was good,one less thing to bargain over...we had a late flight out, so after check out the hotel stored our bags, then we were able to still use the pool faciities, bar, restaurant and showers etc till we left for the airport. We had booked another night here after staying for 3 nights the previous fortnight. the facilities at the Plantation are exceptional and we also dined at the restaurant that night and were so impressed by the service and the food and wine. We had a early wake up call for a car to take us to Siem Reap. the Resort had organised this and also arranged for a breakfast/lunch pack for us to take on the 6 hour trip. fabulous. As I previously advised would thoroughly recommend this hotel. The location of hotel could not be better! A block from National Museum, Royal Palace; 2 from river and close to some excellent restaurants. Staff was extremely helpful and attentive. Pool was lovely. Breakfast was sumptuous. The Plantation was an unexpected oasis in Phnom Penh. It is in an excellent location, just a few minutes walk from the Royal Palace and the river front. The breakfast buffet was superb, the cocktail list at the bar was interesting and good value, the swimming pool is beautifully designed and the room was enormous with a very good bathroom and private balcony. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. You must stay here. I liked the swimming pool a lot, very nice and relaxing. The food was excelent, good flavours and quality. The hotel is in the heart of town but inside feels like your on an island. The staff is particularly friendly and well trained. Breakfast was the best we had in all of Asia. The Integration of the Hotel facilities into an existing colonial bungalow is tastefully done, including the preservation of an existing tree within the landscaped entrance courtyard . The Swimming pool with it's cabanas is a real winner. Best of all, I found the staff incredibly polite, friendly, helpful and very pro-active. The staff are all friendly and helpful. I asked the waiter for mangoes at buffet breakfast time and was told that the supplier would arrive late. They didn't have the room I booked in advance via letsbookhotel.com when I got there but very quickly arranged an alternative which was smaller than the one I booked but at a good deal. Our Standard Double Room (Room #2001 on the ground floor) we initially moved had many problems, like disconnected phone line and leaking aircon, and spots on the bed due to aircon leaking… We were waiting for almost one hour while staff tried to settle all these problems. Finally we have been upgraded to Deluxe Twin Room (Room #2014 on the ground floor; Patio, Garden/Pool View). Staff cooperation is low. They generally are not helpful and come out as if they are doing the guests a favor (probably a language barrier too)!. It took almost an hour to get to the hotel due to traffic, this was something that couldn't be helped. Nothing. The room we were in, although all very comfortable, had a balcony overlooking a pretty grotty premises next door, so we couldn't use it. The staff could try to smile and look a bit more joyous. I had sometimes the feeling that we were disturbing them. The hotel layout was a bit confusing. We had three rooms each one located in another building. To go from one to another was like entering in a maze. We always got lost and there was not even a sign to indicate the direction. A bit far to walk to markets etc, but the tuk-tuks were cheap enough..apart from that it was lovely. The hotel will be expanding and have demolished some buildings on one side. We had been given a room that overlooked that view. When we asked about the possibility of a change, we were moved to a room with a view of a stand of bamboo and palms. The expansion will be done in 2014. There was nothing at all I did not like...we loved the place!. Leaving. That we couldn't stay longer not enough wardrobe space. Nothing to complain about. The only disappointment was not booking a massage soon enough so they were fully booked when I enquired - but that was my fault!. When we asked a member of staff where was good to eat locally they could only tell us the hotels restaurant and no where else?. I didn't like PP at all and would not return, but the hotel was lovely!. Minor detail of providing easier access into the swimming pool perhaps with railings and stone paved flooring in front of the pool steps....particularly for the older guests... An airconditioned dining F&B or Wine Cafe would be a great addition..especially during the hotter months in Cambodia... Using Key to lock the door. During my short stay I can't find anything negative to write here. Toiletries offered, you could find only shampoo and shower gel in the room. I believe for a resort spa hotel, they could offer at least brush and toothpaste kit, razor kit, shower cap, etc. Things that you will need and won't be able to find in the shops around the hotel. None. Noting. Everything is great except for some mosquito in the pool side restaurant. I guess that is not avoidable. Biggest draw back was the staff although they are well staffed in terms of numbers and these staff are really friendly they often seem to stand about unsure of what to do this is particularly true in the restaurant by the pool with the exception of Saron who made sure we had a great evening by serving us (and it seemed everyone else) single handed whilst a group of young 'waiters' stood around smiling. I did not like leaving. That was the only bad part of my experience. I would have wanted to stay longer!!. Leaving. I would have liked to stay a few more days... Nothing, liked just about everything!. There were no reasonable faults I could make. I was very pleased indeed with the plantation.
