Internet worked, service in restaurants was perfect, front desk was very helpful, bellhops were helpful, price was great etc. - I loved location, staff was very friendly, rooms are big, spacious and modern.   All front desk staffs speak good English. Since this is a business hotel, rates on the weekend was cheaper than the weekdays. Use a yellow taxi if you go to tourist spots. They are honest and you pay by the meter. I used a car service that hotel offers when I visited steel plants that are far from the hotel. It is safe near the hotel. I don't reco... what people say » mmend you going to narrow streets that can be blocked by both sides easily. People outside the hotel don't speak English. - Great location if you want to hang around in Lapa. Very close to the metro station so you can easily go to Copacabana and Ipanema as well. The staff has been very helpful and let us check in much in advance. Thank you!

  This was our second stay in the Monte Alegro. Great location near the Arcos de Lapa. Plenty of supermercados, banks, restaurants in the area. Staff were energetic and knowledgable. Very helpful with taxis and service. Rooms were large and clean. Nice pool area. Very good breakfast. - The staff are very friendly, helpful, and competent.   Hotel is in Lapa, a few hundred meters from the famous arches. Transport connections are very good - there are several buslines that run past the hotel and allow access to most parts of Rio easily. Breakfast was fine. AC worked, which is somewhat important when it's +37C outside
