Julia and Lewis were incredibly welcoming. They picked us up at the airport and were gracious and helpful during our week-long stay. (We used The Red Hut Inn as our base as we explored Belize.) They helped us figure out how to get where we wanted to go and had great suggestions for placed to see. Our room was clean and large and the air-conditioning was welcome at the end of hot days outside. Lewis makes delicious breakfasts and dinners, as well!.
all reviews » Julia & Lewis are great hosts, making sure you have everything you need. They can prepare great meals for you and offer a taxi service too. They will help you plan trips and offer advice if you want to 'do it yourself'. The supermarket is just a short walk and the bus stop is even nearer. The food was amazing! Better than the best restaurant in town, which we had been to. The company was good, and the common area for eating and relaxing is comfortable and fun. Discussing plans and what we did with other guests is great. Hosts are helpful and trusting and nice. The welcome was very heartily, the room was tidy and clean with the airco already running. Plenty of warm water in the showers, coffee and drinks available all day and night, and a very nice and creatively cooked breakfast (at an extra) on the roof terras. The person who was in charge..trish was a wonderful person who gave me excellent service. I felt like a member of the family. This is no frills but great on comfort and help with info about the country. They were very fair when I had to cancel one night. Room are nice size and comfortable bed, I most like the shower. Great shower head and temperature. Quiet and friendly. But a must it is the food that Lewis cooks, he is great chef. He prepares lobster for us that night and it was delicious. Good & economical facility. Lewis is a very good chef. Both Lewis & his wife were very helpful and wonderful to be around. Trisha was very good at arranging tours and driving us to them. Overall a great experience. Just a one night stay before connecting to our flight. Clean, Comfortable beds, Good water pressure, and Air conditioning, neighborhood location. The hosts were fabulous! The food was great. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. I am grateful this was my first stop in Belize. They do treat you like family. Louis is a great chef and will cook you breakfast on request. They also rent cars. Had an excellent time. Overnight stay on my way to Punta Gorda. The host was great! Made me a delicious dinner. Nice quiet neighborhood. A budget style hotel with comfortable accomodations and a friendly staff. A great value for the investment!. Excellent staff and very welcoming owners.. Really made me feel at home. accepted our dog take out food convenient taxi to airport. Patricia was great, she pretty much treated us as her own kids. She give us a heads up on stuff to do and brought us to the ticket office for got us sorted for our boat to Honduras. There is an atm, supermarket and Chinese within 5 mins walk away. Having a fridge in the room and a nice balcony for evening relaxing. It was a clean comfortable and very homely feeling place. Cold beers, juice abs water that could be accessed anytime. Lewis will create a delicious home made meal at your request dinner and breakfast was delicious! They try very hard to make your stay very enjoyable. I met some great people on the big open patio during afternoon beers and dinner. They organise a ride up town or will take you to the airport themselves for a small fee. I enjoyed my stay very much thank you :). Location- close to the airport. It's a 20 main bus ride into Belize city which is more of a transport hub anyway but personally I felt more secure being out of town. The bedsheets felt like nylon (?) and the tv remote control did not function very well (forgot to tell). The owner has 5 or 6 dogs who bark alot making it hard to nap during the day.. It was annoying but tolerable. Would have been nice if the rooms had two beds. A lot of dogs barking in neighborhood, no one seemed to care to quite them, so one starts and the rest follow. Didn't go to city. dogs barking. stopped at midnight. A bit off the beaten path. Nothing to not like. It's really dated but most of Belize city is. Getting a bus in/out of the city is inexpensive but annoying. Location was not what we expected through no fault of proprietors - misleading map on letsbookhotel.com. Breakfasts not being available during the period of our stay was inconvenient especially given location. Seemed to be a lot of Mosquitos in the room. The wifi also wouldn't connect properly in the room but worked perfectly on the patio. The owners were not there so we couldn't have any meals that were supposed to be available. Very difficult to find the house (it is not an inn- it is a room in a house in a very crowded residentail area. ) Very noisy with many barking dogs. The Wifi did not work like it was advertised to work. All in all an absolute waste of money. We would never stay there again or recommend this place to anyone except maybe low budget travelers who just need a place to "crash" for the night.
