Banks is an elegant art hotel located in a fashionable district less than 3 minutes’ walk from the Market Square. It features design rooms with luxury bedding and free drinks and tapas in the Lazy Lounge and Daytime Café. This hotel offers modern rooms with a flat-screen TV, seating area, and coffee and tea facilities. A mini fridge is available on request. Each morning a healthy breakfast is served at your table. This breakfast includes freshly-baked bread, a choice of meats and cheeses, boiled eggs, bacon, yogurt, fruit juice and unlimited coffee and / or tea. The lounge offers a casual setting for a drink in front of the open fire. From Monday to Saturday, guests of Banks can enjoy a selection of free drinks and tapas in the lounge from 16:30 until 20:00. On Sundays the tapas are served from 16:30 until 17:45. A free bottle of water is provided in the guest rooms of the hotel. The Plantin-Moretus Museum is 100 metres from the hotel and the Groenplaats Square, with tram connections, is less than 5 minutes' walk away. Het personeel was erg vriendelijk, nadat we waren uit gecheckt konden we daar nog rustig zitten en kregen we nog wat te drinken. Goed ontbijt. Goede buurt, dicht bij het centrum en leuke eet-tentjes. De bazin was erg vriendelijk en had goede tips over lekker eten in de buurt, het personeel is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Wij waren dus over het algemeen zeer positief, een echte aanrader! .

They do also have 'normal' (enclosed cubicle) toilet facilities in the basement that are available for use.Although we liked the hotel some of the staff on reception could do with a bit of fine tuning. A request for smaller pillows (the giant ones provided were playing havoc with my partner's neck) was met with "we'll have a look but don't think we've got any" and never mentioned again. Not all rooms have air conditioning, which isn't easy to spot in the hotel description. Anyone used to North American service, won't want to do without air conditioning in spite of lousy Dutch summer weather! Reserve the 'suite' at €150 a night, it's worth it.no telephone, no tv. when we were there, we were the only visitors, so a little awkward. I highly recommend this hotel, so when we stay next time we hope to see more people ;-). Improvement for the room stated above. We've had a problem in the bathroom: the water did not run away and came into the room...There wasnt a set of toothbrushes and toothpaste in our room, only soap and shampoo. due to design the ceilings are raw beton - gives you a feeling of pressure and smallness, no shower wall - toilet gets wet, the whole floor as well and you need to ´clean´, my single-room had no tv - i was told that the wrong size was sent to the hotel and they are waiting for the delivery. with all the discomfort i think that the prize was too high. if things ever get fixed it´s a perfect deal!. Because of the concrete floor in my room the floor was very cold. You would neet a pare of slipper or heatingsystem in the floor. The shower/wc/door area is more for looks than easy to use..... Openingthe doors in the hotel is a work-out.The hotel had only been open for two/three weeks and so a few things were not working. The air conditioning leaked and could not be fixed but the staff did offer us another room although as a standard economy room the air con was not included. Parking is a bit of a pain. This will be a great hotel in 3 months time once the creases have been ironed out. No telephone service in room! I did got my receipt when I left early onSunday, Sept 14 because no one was manning reception early. But Ialready paid my bill upon check-in.No late check in. The hotel rooms has no television or internet access. It was a little too modern for my tastes. The price of a 'suite' seemed too much considering the room.The fire alarm went off and apparently we were making too much noise for the room next door, although only 10.30 pm. I only could do the check-in at 5.00pm, after the hotel staff has told me that I could do at 2.00pm.room different to photo, much smaller and no view. infested with mosquitos. Some small details of the room and bathroom were not finished yet, for example, hooks for towels were missing. Although the desing is nice (that some might considered "austere modern"), some pieces of furniture seemed to be bit on the cheap side. For a 4 star hotel, one woudl also expect a minibar, although in this case is it probably part of the idea of the overall design.Our room was very small; no space for coats and clothes, no space to walk; toilet was not really separated from the bed room, and was too close to the bed. The lobby smelled quite intensely of bleach. unpainted ceilings, sink in bedroom, glass panel between bedroom and bathroom, no shower curtain, not enough toiletries, no air conditioning, in the summer this could be a problem as it was noisy with the window open, no table in room, insufficient drawer space. small stalls as bedside tables?. not a case of not liking,but don't wait for the lift to go down,use the stairs,it's a lot quicker. some basics were missing in the rooms, like a hanger for the towels or toilet roll. The hotel didn't fullfilled our expectations of a disign hotel of that price range. We booked a superior backyard room - the room we were put in was "backyard" meening dark and overlooking a brick wall, but certainly not superior since it was small and with basic facilities, and cold during the night. not everything is ready. after one year of opening, i find that strange.floor and ceiling still in cement - need to be painted. The breakfast. I can not choose my own breakfast menu. The hotel provide the same menu for all guest.because the hotel has just opened, the management is not at its best yet: there are some missing things in the rooms, the design of the room and hotel requests a super cleaning of all glass panels a.o. Also one expects rather a breakfast buffet than just two plates with bread, fruit, yoghurt and so ... but maybe this will change when the hotel will be running fully booked. Inexperienced hotel personnel (except for the friendly guy of Antwerp), room was not ready at my arrival, I needed to ask for the things (hair dryer, waste basket, glass) to be put in my room. The next days no new soap or shampoo was provided. The complimentary bottle of cava was not given, even if promised through the website.The hotel lacks the perfect balance between what it wants to be and what it actually is. They have a night entrance and no evening personnel. I felt a bit uneasy with this. The air conditioning unit started leaking water in the middle of the night. Sadly, it is a very impersonal experience. I feel it is priced a bit too high considering the lack of amenities and services. Design of the room looks cheap. No shower curton hence water evrywhereafter shower- a pity with a shower rain!. you must be careful the transparennt bathroomandWC. No air conditioner,no TV, no body at the reception at night.. you can not believe this is four stars hotel.
