The Stefanie exceeded my expectations. Here are some atras about the Stefanie. 1. Most of the staff spoke English. 2. Excellent location for everything. It is a short walk to two different U Bahn stations on the Red Line and just a little further to a station on the orange line. The tram goes right past the hotel's door. Limousine (only 6 Euros) to the airport is close to the closest U Bahn.

On our first morning in the hotel, we had to get up at 6.30am and there was only luke warm water for a bath and the same in my friends room on the same corrider for a shower. We decided not to complain, the next morning we got up slightly later and the water was boiling hot!. Not enough tables for 1 or 2 persons at breakfast, which meant that on crowded days, tables became scarce as couples sitting at a table for four became precious about keeping the whole table for themselves. No, I gladly book a room again there. all the staff were very helpful bar one but who gave us incorrect information on a tour. the price for hotel parking is too high. This is an Austrian national problem and not specific to this hotel - Smoking. Smoking is still permitted in the foyer and bar (which is the only place where snack foods are available). This is most off putting to non smoking users and most noticeable to those coming from countries that do not permit smoking in public places. The smell of cigarette smoke spoils the enjoyment of others.Could do with a faster toaster! ;o). It is slightly out of the centre. You need to be fit to walk backwards and forwards during the day and evening.car parking incurred a charge, not mentioned in booking; dinner in restaurant, service too slow. not very spacious rooms. smoking allowed everywhere, perhaps smoking should be kept to bar. No smoking in reception area would improve the smell when you walk in. Not all rooms have internet access : if you need it, specify onreservation !. Staff in breakfast room pays little attention : I had to ask for coffee myself (this was not the first time !). Smoking fumes tended to affect everywhere.. a shame as it spoilt an excellent hotel..Somehow, the stiffness of the austrian receptionists.

The first historical mention of Hotel Stefanie dates back to the year 1703. A certain Josepha Winkler acquired the "Weisse Rose" (White Rose) at Taborstrasse 12 - the present-day Hotel Stefanie - in 1728. 70 years later, in 1798, the "Weisse Rose" was mentioned in Vienna's first hotel guide. Of all the hotels listed in that guide, only 3 have survived to the present day.

In the 1873 hotel guide, it was listed as having 110 rooms, making it one of the largest hotels in Vienna. Today, Hotel Stefanie is beloved by thousands of guests from all over the world - as a 4-star hotel with state-of-the-art facilities and that personal Viennese atmosphere rooted in centuries of tradition.
