The staff were extremely friendly and happy to give me a room with a city view after already allocating our room. The view was magical and the location was central. It was the most comfortable bed I've slept in away from my own bed and the facilities were beautiful....perfect for my romantic getaway... The reception staff upon arrival were excellent. They made us feel comfortable and welcome. The complimentary drinks at the Metropole were a great idea and we would definitely stay there again. We also liked that the rooms were couple off so that anyone entering the room had to get through two doors.
all reviews » The rooms were just what we required. The very convenient position of the hotel was perfect for us. The rooms were extra clean & when we went out to eat at night there was a restaurant just downstairs which was great as we did not have to drive & could have a drink without worrying. The room was beautiful, only problem was we weren't there long enough. Checked in at 10pm and had to check out a 5.30am for a scuba diving trip. Heaps of hot water in the shower which is always a bonus, excellent room. I love that you can park the car and walk to alot of restaurants. The city is a short walk also and the Strand and casino are within walking distance for those who like to take a stroll and admire the view. The room was immaculately presented and clean, the set out and amenities were great to wake up to. Staff were lovely and welcoming. I will defineately return to OAKS M when in Townsville again. The Oaks M on Palmer in Townsville is excellent quality accomadation at extreamly reasonable price. we go to Townsville every 3 months for 1-3 days and this will be our 1st choice to stay. Oaks M on Plamer is one of the better self contained apartments that I have stayed in. Close to everything that is good on Palmer St., yet quiet at the same time. It worked for me. The room was immaculate and exactly as shown in the photos on the net and had everything you could ever need. Staff were friendly and professional. Great Indian takeaway next door. Very nice large room, very new, clean and modern. I also had a great view and the airconditioner work very well. The bathroom was large and modern with a proper shower,. The hotel is a convenient location. Having a washer and dryer in the room was very convenient. We would stay there again. Wifi expensive but information centre is free. The room was a great size, so was the ensuite. We had no trouble with hot water was nearly instant. Very close to a large variety of eating places. Bed was great. It is close to the centre of all that happens in Townsville. Great location, walking distance of the strand & very comfortable& affordable. Dave. The beds and pillows were extra comfortable. The bed Lovely kitchen Quiet on 11th floor. new, clean, great service, value for money. Cleaning and reception staff were great. The tv reception was pretty poor quality, and we weren't even able to change the channel because the remote was faulty. The dvd remote also had flat batteries so that wasn't even an option. Nothing. Nothing, was a great motel. Can't fault anything. No hot water in the morning. Cost of wifi, $12.50 for 2 hours. The hotel itself was a little hard to find, is behind another building and not as easy to see until you know it's there. The receptionist could be friendlier, both of them.... nothing. INTERNET was additional cost and time restricted which we thought was unnecessary and the Hotel should just have wi fi for the building and all to use . The website said we would either have mountain or river views, but the balcony with table and chairs had a brick wall to look at. The view of mountains was taken up by the backpackers accomodation which was very noisy one night, ALL night!. On arrival I noticed that some of the cutlery and crockery were not really clean and I had to put them thru the dishwasher...not a big deal. There was only one girl on reception and she was "flat out". Being a public holiday I can understand that minimal staff are on. Room was very small, not much space for two adults and a baby, but still very nice. We had a maintenance problem which couldn't be fixed as it was a long weekend. Nothing. The only fault was the shower. The water never stayed at the same temperature. I had to work hard to find something. The only thing I can think of is that the kitchen waste bin was in an awkward place. Otherwise all excellent. Nothing. Loved everything. My rooms view. Nothing not to like. I could not find the tea and coffee . There isn"t anything that i could say i disliked at all. A little far from the local restaurants. The room smelt a little musty. as a member I received a complimentary room upgrade, tho the washing machine flooded the room so was transferred to a small room. fire alarm went of at 5am and than had no hot water for a shower in the morning (had to wait 20 mins) No apology, no offer of a refund and no explanation. no view. The view from our room, overlooked the railway track !! Didn't feel welcome by staff. Towels very thin. Car park was a bit tight. We were on the third floor and so had no view - river or Mt Stuart!! Bit dodgy down that end of Palmer St at night!. Almost all rooms has a bad smell coming from the AC.
