We arrived at the hotel and saw the stairs and thought "Oh No", but reception immediately said they would bring our bags up for us. We were really grateful. Same thing in the morning. I came out with our big suitcases ready for international travel, and was greeted by a staff member who immediately said he would bring the bags down. Room was really clean, restaurant served nice reasonably priced meals, despite being on a busy road the rooms are quite, good air cond and reliable and reasonabl.
all reviews » I made a wrong booking for a day too late and the hotel was full for the night, but the lady at the reception was extremely friendly and helpful and found me a room that someone else missed a flight for. She totally made my day. Despite the plain look from the outside, the hotel was pretty cool on the inside. My fault for not checking the maps, I thought it would be right next to the airport. I ended up having to take a taxi that cost $15 to the hotel. Shuttlebus back to the airport is availab. Simple budget-friendly accomodation in close proximity to the airport. There is a public bus that can be caught from Wickham St for $2.20 and takes approx 5 mins to get to the international airport. There are several options for eating if you walk up the road (to left as you exit the hotel) and turn right on Firth St. Walk about 100m and you will find options for kebabs, thai & pizza just after the IGA. The wi-fi in the room worked well. Closeness to the airport, but beware of the Taxi's they can take you a longer way to the hotel as they did us it cost us 30dls NOT HAPPY about that as that is why we booked this hotel for our early departure next morning, thankfully the hotel has a shuttle service to the airport only 8dls each . Otherwise the hotel is OK for an overnight stay. Lovely Italian Restaurant next door and they also serve a very nice breakfast as well. The thing that we liked the most about this hotel was the staff - they were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We only stayed here a couple of nights as stop overs between flights and this hotel perfectly met our needs but would not be so suitable if you wanted to see the city itself as it is on the outskirts. The hotel is very basic but really clean and comfortable. The two day managers had excellent people skills and made us feel at home, especially the lady. The young man who helped us with our heavy bag was a relief for us 73 year olds. Having the near Gourmet Retaurant attached was a welcome sight and the husband wife and daughter gave the food it's Italian authenticity. Staff were friendly, room clean. Great place to stay. Close to airport and train station (10-15 mins to city center, 5 mins driving to the airport) Forgot stuff when leaving, contacted hotel staff by email asking if they could send it to my home address. The response was very quick, posted the same day +++. Staff were outstandingly helpful and pleasant. WiFi facilities and support for printing boarding passes or route maps etc instantly available. Rooms of motel type but entirely adequate. Free parking "round the corner" and easy walking access to shops, restaurants, buses and railway station. The room small but had everything you would need a comfortable bed, fridge, air conditioner, desk, TV small but good bathroom the room was quiet considering the traffic noise outside. We ate at the restaurant twice a dinner & breakfast both times very good. Staff were very helpful. Close to the Airport, great for a stop over for connecting flights. They have a shuttle bus service for $8. Good italian restaurant reasonably priced food. Close to railway station for transport into the city, great little cafe opposite the station run by very Friendly asian Lady. I really liked the simple & welcoming check-in on arrival. Although the in-house restaurant was affordable and had an extensive Italian menu we appreciated the Hotel's location and the ease of access to King Street,Newtown with its variety of restaurants and the airport. It was a humid night but the r/c air-conditioning worked so we slept well. We had an inside room (by request) and weren't bothered by noise. We arrived late at night and first impression was not very good , but once we got inside our thoughts changed it was fine spotless bedroom had excellent meals in the Privately owned restaurant which is combined in the hotel . Would use again with no hesitation . this is the 2nd time l have stayed here and l was impressed the first time and doubly impressed this time. The price is right and the staff are friendly and professional and the single rooms are cute and l had the quietest air conditioner l have ever had. Great location to the airport. It was quiet and we enjoyed reading in the courtyard. Excellent location for a great value hotel so close to the airport . Nearby food options also fantastic. Staff extremely helpful. We stayed at the Airport Hotel mid. 2012 during the renovations and were pleased that there was the availability of a meal and bar facilities this time. It was clean and surprisingly quiet. The train station to get into town was close by as well. The airport hotel was situated near the airport which made it an ideal location for a night stop over. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. Room was quite small - but as an overnight stop over it didn't really matter to much. Thin walls? I could literally hear everyone in the other rooms. It can get annoying when other guests aren't being very careful, or just inconsiderate. As people have mentioned previously, you can hear conversations, tvs, plumbing etc from other rooms. We found that the television set did not allow you to raise the volume past a certain point and we suspect that was done deliberately (and responsibly) for the comfort of other guests. I always use white noise to drain out bothersome sounds so wasn't so much of an issue for me but if you are a light sleeper or noises bother you perhaps this is not the hotel for you. No lift and stairs to climb with suitcases. But was helped out by office manager. Being an airport hotel it can be noisy when guests leave with their suitcases at all sorts of hours. Best suited for people wanting to stay before a flight and not for those wanting to visit the city as it is on the outskirts of the city. Inconvenient access with heavy luggage. Need to park on pavement (but that is easy) for offload, and no lifts. Shuttle service between airport and hotel not free, and not always available. (But, you can always use the 400 or 410 buses, almost door to door!). The only problem was parking is not at the Hotel but up the road although we didn't find it a problem getting a spot you still had to get your luggage there and it did rain once so that was a nuisance. Try and have a shower early in the eavening as the water seems to run cool on both occations I have stayed. No direct complaints,yet a little more soundproofing of the rooms would quell the shower/toilet sounds carrying through to other rooms. My room was facing the main street right near the streat light. It wasn't bright because the curtains were double, however, the roaring of the engines when the car starts were a little too noisy at night. Be good if you had a double or a thicker window glasses. No elevator, dragging bags up stairs sucks. The location isn't amazing but it was great for us, probably not if you're there for a while. There was a gap between the window and the curtain and it was visible to see the shower from outside, so I had to use a sticky tape to attach the edge of the curtain to the wall to close the gap. Room was small. On our second stay, the night manager was extremely rude and abrupt, but then, with few exceptions, that was generally true of the service industry in Australia. The traffic noise. No pickup from the airport. Only one pillow available. The blind being too narrow for the window,allowing in too much light. The shower door facing the wrong way, not allowing the ability to turn on the water without getting wet. No wash cloths provided. The tiny room and bathroom noise from above. Can be a bit of noise from other guests. Bathroom extremely small. One night ( weekend) our neighbors were quite loud and it seemed they were just laughing and having normal but social conversations. Seems like so many hotels - the walls may be too thin !!! Hard to sleep when others are laughing and talking around 11-midnite. The front entrance is unwelcoming. Single room very small with shower/toilet in same room . Taxi drivers didn't want to take customer on short trip from airport - shuttle bus available in morning but did not realise you had to arrange for same. Slightly noisy but expected due to location and not an issue for a short-term stay. The queen bed room, my son & partner had was a little small, but still comfortable. His mates room had a huge pillar in the middle of it & unfinished painting & renovation work. The room we stayed in was tiny but functional for a one night stay. Also our room was located adjacent to the main road and was extremely noisy ALL night long. A little traffic noise. The rooms are very small but fine for the one night when you return or are going to travel. One of the male staff members is quite rude and direct. The door of the hotel is closed all the time and lots of people don't know whether to enter. They need to have a better sign as everyone makes the same mistake and stay outside. No lift. I was travelling internationally and had a big case.I am 72 so not able to lift case up the stairs. The room was very tiny. To have some daylight in the room people could see into my room.(Room 222).Suggest a thin curtain. No fridges. The most we were not too happy about was the noise created by the wheeled luggage. A hand towel would have been nice. No lift! The staff are more than willing to help with your luggage though, & there are only 2 flights of stairs. It's a muscle building exercise haha. Breakfast was from 8:00 am which was a bit late. Some rooms are close to the Princess highway which is a bit noisy.
