The staff were great. Great for advice. Free (good) breakfast, free tea/coffee any time and free rice and pasta! No shortage of sockets in rooms- and beacuse they are inside a personal locker you can leave laptops etc charging while you're not there, securely!, when you have your own lock! One small plus large locker per person. Only four to any room. Great showers. Has a bar and chill out area. Great location!!!.
all reviews » Staff, staff, staff. They all knew what they were doing and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Dorm rooms and shared bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever stayed at. It was within comfortable walking distance (for me) to Flinders Street and Southern Cross Station. A convenience was just around the corner and a supermarket (Woolworths and Aldi). The kitchen was well maintained. Chosen for specific location. Was brilliant for southbank and ent centre and 15 to 20 min walk to southern cross station. Private room great size and surprisingly quiet and private. I founf it a great place to stay for any travel style. ( I wasn't there as a bachpacker). everything. the bed doesnt have noisy at all and strong so that dont make nerverse to go to upside bed. and all staff was really friendly. they have event every day. also price was really reasonable. i love there. i want to stay there again if i will go there. we love the atmosphere at this hotel l usually stay with my students it is very central for me and l am familiar driving from the country, in saying that l don't know what l would do if l could not get parking at the rear. it was incredibly clean and comfortable for this price, I also positively surprised that it was that close to such a huge road and it was still really quiet. The people were nice and the staff usually really helpful!. Awesome staff take amazing care of this place. I plan on staying here twice a week for studies. People are friendly and the location is perfect if you want to visit the Melbourne sites. the location was very good and central to everything we wanted to do , breakfast was a bonus and staff very friendly, we felt safe and the staff were very helpful. very tidy (rooms as well as lavatories), nice staff, spacious rooms, lockers in rooms (equipped with sockets), free brekkie, the bar, only 15-20 mins walk to CDB. I met a friend Sarah (from Canada), we were r/mate sharing a bunk and went to the hotel bar for ladies+gents Thu night got free cocktail punch and meeting other people. That bring a nice experience and the bed was nicely made with clean sheet and clean pillow. The bathroom also clean. I went to sleep like a baby. Next morning I had free breakfast, I learn the culture of some long stay backpackers that they are able to add some of their own cooking meal (by. -very close to downtown -friendly staff -friendly environment & people -decent free breakfast -bar inside the hostel -special events everyday -nice kitchen, lots of pots, pans and utensils, many fridges -free pasta & rice. very clean includ ber some times good events kitchen is easy to cook. Good location, nice and clean rooms. I like the price. Late check in. The bed was comfortable & the room was adequate to our needs. Availability to transport was good also. very happy atmospherer in the kitchen. Some backpackers need to learn that they are not the only ones staying there and learn to be more considerate (in the kitchen, bathrooms, dorm rooms, etc.) But nothing bad about UCM!. No fridge in my room and one of the glasses was covered in someone else's toothpaste. Spare blanket seemed like it needed a wash. Was t there long enough for these to be an issue though. the shower facility have some machine is have noisy and not easy to get how to use. l asked for some milk and coffee as it was not replenished in our room on the second day milk was offered but the answer was no to coffee l thought this unusual, also soap was not replenished. book very early in advance because it can be really full at times and they keep moving around the people throughout the hostel.. It was a bit noisy but no fault to the place. nothing, all fine! Urban Central was a lucky choice - pretty good value for money!. Breakfast description is not accurate, we need to cook the breakfast (pasta, toast, etc.) ourselves. Small luggage room The annoying sound from bath timer. THird level front room faces onto the flyover-the cars simply don't stop -on top of the Grand Prix was noise bedlam!!Also boozers tend to coalesce round the front door until three in the AM!!!. no free wifi. Room contains only a locker and bed. Very basic. Packing or unpacking your bag is not comfortable without a chair/table. Actually the staff in the kitchen sometimes just put a poker face when asking them questions. Not so friendly, especially for the Asians. Room-mates need to be more respectful...mature?..farting games, bags and possessions littered everywhere....but this really the staff cannot help as it lies on ones sense of respect. Nothing. The room is smelly. And there is no ventilation facility in the room. The bed is not firm enough. Either one's movement will cause large noise of the bed. The ladder for climbing to the upper bed hurts feet very bad. And the toilet paper is not good. No free WiFi. Reception told us we could park at Crown - the said no unless member or we could pay $50 - the car park next to your building $8 & $9 for 12 hours was ok - why did he not tell us about that ? The rest of your staff were lovely. Kitchen not 24hours. Full when we Wanted to book more nights :-). Heating didn't work. Location not the best but has easy access to trams. all good. A little bit out of the city center No free wifi. None fair. While closing the door, the lock makes more noise. So it disturbs others. If the lock is smooth, it will be better. not having a mini fridge in the family room to keep some supermarket items stored. no free internet. The kitchen area is rather crowded at meal time and there is not enough fridge space. A special fridge for leftover groceries would be welcome. Pay for internet! Are you kidding???!!. Having to boil kettle on the ground. Noisy patrons. People came to the floor and had a party in the common area. Then began fighting. Kids freaked out still ask questions about the two men and the lady fighting. The other room mate in and out during midnite, the slamming door was a bit of a disturb. Maybe the hotel can work on that. And there is no swimming pool... -no free wifi + paid wifi available but terrible deal : expensive (4$ / hour) for a 11mbits/s (if you need wifi to look for a job or an appartment, you have to go a free wifi area in the city, very incovenient, especially past 8pm -no ensuite bathrooms -spring matress very uncomfortable -overcrowded kitchen at lunch and dinner time, annoying if you want to cook a nice meal (like everybody else). Ｎo wifi. Kitchen over-crowded in the dinner time. Free breakfast is just sliced bread and marmelade or cornflakes with milk. Thats it. I didn't like no fridge in my room when I stayed 3 nights. Also the lock on the bathroom door didn't work. Parking facilities, drunk atmosphere at night. The room was right next to the lift which didn't seem to stop for most of the night & into early morning. The noise from the lift operating kept me awake for most of the night. Although the windows were double glazed, the traffic noise was very bad. The vent in the wall for the airconditioning unit let more noise in also. Smell kitchen , the room ís too basic.
