Great accommodation and close to GC airport. Stopped over night with my mum who's in her 70's and we were flying out next early morning. Whilst checking in to the motel the previous evening we enquired about taxis to the airport ... the manager of the motel very kindly offered to take us rather than calling a taxi...a great personal service... Would definitely recommend to friends and family flying from the GC.
all reviews » This was my second time in the last few weeks staying at Golden Shores and like the first stay it did not disappoint. It's proximity to everything(beach, airport & some good restaurants) is excellent as well as spotless comfortable rooms. It is all that you need for a short, well priced stay. A classic 60's 'retro-motel', very nicely appointed internally. Conveniently located across from the ool airport and only one block from Kirra Beach. All units have polished wooden floors and updated kitchenette and bathrooms. Owner very service oriented, personable and dropped us off to the airport free of charge at 6am in the morning, unit was absolutley spotless - was oldish but rennovated and clean, for for the price we paid excellent value. Even though it looked tired from the outside it was fresh, clean and spacious compared to other accommodation places I've been to. I would recommend it as a budget conscious family accommodation for a beach holiday. It was nicely renovated, spotlessly clean with good old fashioned service that is hard to find these days. So close to the airport and the free shuttle service to the airport was an added bonus. allowed early check in clean rooms just right for only sleeping as meeting family elsewhere and close to all areas required. The beach on one side, and airport on the other, perfect location for travellers' overnight stay. Great find clean and so convenient to the airport and the service was great. Just loved the bed it was so comfy and I loved the room size. Very close to airport, 10 minutes walk, clean and low budget. Staff was very helpful and tried to fix problems we had. the room had been updated and looked clean and modern. Clean rooms, helpful manager. Close to airport. Booked for the location - Coolangatta airport. Very small but clean! No other guests at the time, so motel was very quiet!. Was clean and central for us. Leaving, although bathroom was not too bad. Rooms could use a fly screen in the bathroom to cover the luevered windows. Simple solution was to turn off the light and close the door :-). was fine. The small bathroom space but it still wasn't a huge drawback. parking was a bit tight. Rooms are old, sliding doors rattle all night. The shower had no pressure in it. TV screen is too small. No shuttle to airport as I was lead to believe. No staff on property at all, you pick up key from safe. No return phone call when I rang about airport shuttle. Manager was to assist me with other options but never got back to me. No information in room eg; Transport options etc. Sofa was awful. Did not seat 3 and was unbelievably uncomfortable. Need easy chairs to relax in. the stairs we felt were a bit dangerous.Also the room was not very sound proof. Road noise was a problem. Wi- Fi keeps dropping out. Steep staircase to rooms, not covered, wooden treads slippery when wet. Room furnishings basic. Traffic noise was non-stop. Tiny bathroom, we coped but would upgrade in future!. The double bed was unbearably uncomfortable and we didn't have enough cutlery, plates etc. I had paid for 5 people so there should of been enough for all. Difficult to find after dark - no signage lit up. Twin beds made it seem like a prison cell. Sliding door to room was bizarre.
