The reception staff is the best. I forgot her name but she was excellent. Very efficient and friendly. Made sure I never missed anything including the pick up taxi even though she wasn't on duty. The pool is well maintained bui didn't have enough time for it. I saw families catching fun. Very close to cbd. Will go back there sometime soon. This Hotel is conveniently located close to City Centre but far enough away to be quiet. It had excellent, friendly & helpful staff. Rooms were maintained daily with fresh towels as required. It had a pool for relaxation. I look forward to returning in the future and would recommend it to anyone.
all reviews » Service, location and staff were all excellent.Very easy transit to city or attractions. Units were clean and had everything we needed including fans and air conditioning. On site pool was a plus. Great for families or travellers on a budget. Spacious apartment, good big balcony, relaxed atmosphere, quite nice swimming pool, very friendly and helpful staff, good location - near Mindlil Beach and easy walk to town without actually being amongst all the noise. Darwin is very expensive. The Alatai Apartments represent value for money. The apartments are not fancy but provide everything you would need for your stay. The rooms (we had 2 apartments) were clean and comfortable. Apartment was fine, not flash but adequate for our needs. the breakfast was cheap and good. Reasonably close to Botanic Gardens and Mindel Beach and within easy walking distance of town. Pool & facilities. nice place to stay it was clean, pool was great, very close to shopping and the city, was very quiet when we were there in May, the rooms were not very big, but who wants to stay in your room all day. Position in relation to the City. We thought it was nice and quiet at least for the five days we stayed. The staff were excellent very helpful and friendly. Gardens and surrounds could have been a lot nicer perhaps surrounds we're shabby in my opinion. Can't be too hard to grow a tidy garden in Darwin!!. Our accommodation was a 2 bedroom fully self contained apartment. We were expecting a 'motel' room, so were pleasantly surprised. We liked the proximity to a lot of the different activities around Darwin. It was a good size apartment with good facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to city attractions.(for reasonably fit adults) Free off street parking. Clean and quiet and close to the city. Apartments are well-maintained. Tiny little insects, so you had to keep everything in fridge. A little bit too much Chlorine in the pool at times. Fair to say the apartment was 'tired' and in need of a refresh. That said, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot - the decor didn't really impact on us. We could hear a lot of noise and also smells coming from the room beside us. There was a locked adjoining door between our room and next door which allowed a lot of noise and smells to come through. There also did not appear to be any other form of access to the rooms other than stairs. This would have been difficult for anyone with any injury or form of disability, and could make it difficult to get luggage up to your room, particularly if you were on the 3rd floor. Expensive by Australian standards but good value compared with most Darwin prices. Guest internet services in the reception area need to be more reliable. Could not open curtains road side,suggest scrim preventing seeing in from road. Some appartments are privately owned - several noisy nights. Was a bit noisy at times but not all the time. We were near the stairs so that contributed to it. It iss only a minor complaint though. Getting a bit tired outside. Some of the guests partied until very late. noisy ceiling fan so air conn. had to be used more than needed especially at night. no chairs/table on balcony. Still waiting for our bond to be refunded. No wi-fi in the rooms, had to spend alot ot time in the reception area. Both nights of stay were spoiled by the rowdy and noisy behaviour at the pool parties that continued well past the 9pm cutoff and no one on site to quiet them down. shower head was mouldie. An alarm going off in the one apartment you could not get access to as it is a private unit. Three flights of stairs could be difficult for some guests. No portable clothes hoist/ line available -had to use the dryer. Cigeratte Butts around the pool and in the gardens and on the paths. Noisy around the pool area until 10.30pm. no hand towels. BBQ - gas charged. The pillows were a but uncomfortable. Not vaccuming carpets, cleaning of bathroom. General maintenance poor eg.the ceiling fans had a coat of dust. No reception service on weekends and no facility for wake up calls on weekends. There is an after hours number but the only thing they advise is that I would have to sort out the issue during reception times. shower blockage, noisy exhaust fan in bathroom. wire holding shower door together. rear door security very poor, had to pay for BBQ gas and ask for bottle. Although not in a busy section of town, the location tends to attract those who love to drink and who speak loudly into the evening. Minimal room information available no restocking of rubbish bags, coffee, tea, sugar or milk no broom or carpet sweeper which would have enabled us to keep our own room tidy on a daily basis. Left towels on rail as no need to have them laundered everyday but they were changed anyway. Disappointed the bed was not made for us each day. finding the previous tenants frozen food in the fridge and underwear on the balcony with too many cigarette butts Lattice work broken hot water too hot (danger to children). The tiny ants that were right through the apartment and the very fast dripping of the bathroom taps. pool area untidy, pool water treatment not up to scratch, barbecue equipment dirty, breakfast too limited choice. other guests using pool late at night & consuming alcohol. Noisy around pool area into the late hours. Needed extra bed warmers got cold through the night. The noise level of other groups at the apartments at night . The fact that police were called to sort out a group of people at the apartments on Saturday evening. The noise and the Saturday disturbance would not encourage us to return to Alatai apartments when we visit Darwin next.
