Prices were very good. The location was great since that it was right where the bus stops were that picked you up for your tours. Staff was incredibly helpful when I accidentally booked the wrong sort of room for our stay. Beds weren't too uncomfortable or anything and the breakfast was very nice to have every morning!. Rooms basic but were clean and spacious with air conditioning. Spacious shower and large bed. Very good value for a location right at the heart of the city. Breakfast on the verandah was a seperb location. Plenty of eating establishments to suit all tastes within a very short walk.
all reviews » Very nice to find an original old place to stay in the city centre instead of all the new characterless high rises that are taking over the Cairns landscape. Still found and was able to plan and book everything we wanted to do with the help of the fantastic staff. Loved it being in the heart of the city, also the staff were very helpful and accommodating, excellent prices which included breakfast, making it a more enjoyable holiday with more money to spend on those holiday things we all love to buy. AAAAA+++++. The staff at this hotel was amazing and totally made this hotel worthwhile. They did their best to offer travel tips, sightseeing and other information about Cairns and the area. The breakfast room and breakfast on the veranda each day was great. I was very impressed with the staff who shifted me without hesitation to a different room when my airconditioner didn't work. Any questions I had the staff obligingly and helpfully assisted. Lovely atmosphere in the older part fo the Hotel. The care taken over booking my Kuranda tour. The friendly desk staff. The fact that they gave me a nice room distant from the aircon tower on my second stay, after requesting it if possible. The very convenient location. Hide`s location is great,and close to everything,including transport.We stayed in a superior double room,and with the light breakfast included as well,it was great value for our tariff of $80pn. The pool area is unique, but the hotel is close to the lovely lagoon for swimming, so the pool is not necessary. The young people next door were talking loudly until 5 in the morning. A bit more variety for breakfast as I am lactose and glucose intolerant - there was very little suitable for breakfast, but I did make do with eggs and juice. in past times I would have been happy with the breakfast. The proximity of the noisy aircon tower outside on my first of 2 1-night stays. Pillows were a bit flat,and the bed,on rollers,moved around on the floor tiles too much. All good. You don't fix something that isn't broke. It is an older hotel, so rooms are a little shabby and not as clean as a newer hotel might be. Limited parking means only 7 spots for the hotel. we were lucky enough to get one by the second night of our stay, but keep that in mind if you are driving. Breakfast finishes too early, at 9 am. Should go to at least 10 am. little bit noisy in the night - especially the bus on the road. The air con needed to be dusted or cleaned. Extremely noisy at night! If you are looking for somewhere quiet this isn't the place for you. You can hear noise until about 5am. The noisy motor outside our window (unit 217) How some people can gorge themselves stupid at breakfast. Don't they look in the mirror and see their size?. Apart from that all was well.(our third time). Lack of WiFi service in our room. Room was clean, but old. Beds were on wheels so you'd have a ride aroung the room each time you'd sit down on it... We had no complaints. quite noisy at night. people in the street making noise when the nightclubs finish at 3am woke me every night/morning... but that's not the hotels fault..!!!!. a little bit too noisy at nightsfrom the outside.Windows in the room a bit dirty....but do understand that it would be difficult to clean them. Quite happy with everything. An extra 1 to 2 hours for late check out would have been appreciated as the direct flight from Perth to Cairns gets in to the airport at 4.30am! Most hotels we have stayed at in Australia & overseas happy to allow a later check out if requested in advance. - Breakfast was poor. Parking my car on the street at night when I arrived. Presence of aboriginal people who were a public nuisance outside the hotel on two nights. While I have nothing against aboriginal people generally, it would be good if they had another place to gather. I felt really sad for them, as I had never witnessed such interactions involving conflict, alcohol consumption, and homelessness. One large cockroach about 8 cm long. Leaving !. A bit noisy at night. They have air units in the entry way and the rooms but not the hallways getting to the rooms and it got quite hot in the halls, but you don't spend much time in the halls... Breakfast was not that diversity. No wifi in room. superior room was abit ordinary - do not know what standard rooms are like. little noisy on Saturday night. The bed was pretty soft. Everything is fine. Nothing. No wifi in room as advertised on web . Bit noisy from outside machine noise.
