Good host who provided useful local information on nearby pubs and cafes. Very close to Central station and tram routes. Flat well sourced with tea/coffee and travel guides/maps. Luckily we were on first floor - good tip to ask for this flat. Able to leave bags in cycle shop next door which was also run by our host. Very good value for centre of city. Great location, very easy to find, very central-just off Dam square and a 5 minute walk from central station. Staff very friendly and very helpful, carried our luggage upstairs. Sorted problem with tv immediately. Happy to store luggage for you before you book in and after you book out. Standard is similar to that of a good youth hostel in the uk.

I would recomend it to everybody. I have never left a review before, but Old City was such a great surprise. Been to Amsterdam before and had problems, so had that outlook to begin with. Great staff, lovely room and fantastic location. Perfect location just a hundred meters from Dam square, but at the same time at the quiet side street. Spacious room (for an Amsterdam hotel). Mini-kitchen with free tea and coffee. Free bike rental. The staff was very nice and helpful. The studio I stayed is very comfortable. I you like to stay at Amsterdam downtown, this place is a nice one to be. Fantastic location and apartment, I have been to Amsterdam several times and this was by far the best accommodation I have had. It's very clean! It's situated in the very centre, closed to Dam square.. You can take a bike anytime... Holger- the manager!!! Location, Location, Location! Perfect for families and groups of friends!. Location. Breakfast would have been rather expensive at extra 12.50 Euros but no need to book breakfast due to large number of cafes nearby. For four sharing it would have been better to have 2 toilets. Room needs a bit of attention. Curtains need cleaning, walls need painting etc...but that is the only complaint!. A bit pricey. No cleaning in the room during my 2-day stay. No reception, need to call the reception guy and wait for him to come. The place is hard to find without GPS-enabled smartphone :). In Amsterdam everything is more expensive than in Italy for example...). Nothing!. There was nobody cleaning the room. Nothing. difficult staircase. Difficult to find. Price. The Amount Of Stairs Is Just Mental! We Were On The 3rd Floor! 52 stairs That Were Extremly Steep To Get To Our Room! The Price Of The Apartment For What You Get Is Very Excessive! Didnt get our towels ( 1 Each) or bed clothes changed once in 3 Days! A great trip! Just Couldnt recomend this Place At Its Current Price. The bedbug I saw between the bedsheets as I prepared to depart; didn't really think much of it until the next day when I scratched my ankle and found a string of 7 (seven) fluid-filled and infected blisters raised over 15mm high. A little unpleasant, and making me think whether I got any value at all from my stay. - Wayne McDuffy. Everything about the accommodation was poor. Bedding smelt and was not ironed. Freezer iced up, bathroom facilities very poor. Main bedroom door which leads onto hallway had large gaps where you could see the light in the hallway, if there was to be a fire we would have had no chance in getting out alive. I am requesting refund of at least 130 euros as the accommodation is well overpriced. The room was small with small uncomfortable beds, and small shower area. Only one small towel p/person and one very small soap. No shampoo or other minor essentials.only tiny window with no view except of another rooftop.. This was hostel accomodation with Hotel prices.
