We had a fabulous one night stay at The Chester Residence. Staff were very helpful and the suite was fantastic. All rooms were very spacious (we had the 1st floor suite) and the location was only about 5 minutes walk from Haymarket and Princes Street. We stayed in apartment 11 on the third floor. The view was incredible of
St. Giles Cathedral. The location superb two blocks from the castle.
Many restaurants and shops on the royal mile. Many tourists but inside
the apartment calm and relaxing. A bit of noise at night as shops and
restaurants were cleaning up and ghost tours ending but by 11pm all went
quiet until about 7am. We enjoyed our stay as it was close to everything
including Waverly train station.

However, you will surely need to take a cab from the Metro to the Hotel (if carrying heavy luggage) 2nd option would be to climb around 108 steps towards the hotel (from the metro station). Taxi would not cost more than 4 Pounds from the train station.
