  There it was! The iconic Bryggen in full view from our hotel room window. The Scandic Strand could not have been better sited. Below us was the famous Fish Market and the Vagen Waterway, with only a short walk to the Floyen Mountain funicular. The only downside was late night music from a waterfront bar which kept us awake o - Room was very large and very comfortable for a family of four. The staff was accommodating, breakfast was good and the hotel was clean and comfortable. We had taken it as a stopover before our trip of the Fjords, the hotel was a great place to spend the night specially since we traveled from Oslo and reached late, there were enough places to grab a bite even at 11 in the night.

I also had a room at the rear of the hotel overlooking the park which was exceptionally quiet despite reading reviews about noise.   This was a great hotel, reminded me of a quality American hotel with large rooms, restaurants, and fitness facilities. The location was perfect for sightseeing in Bergen. We arrived at the train station after our Norway in a Nutshell tour and walked approx. 10 minutes to the hotel. Breakfast was fantastic and included in the rate. - The location is really excellent, very very close to Brygge, Bryggens Museum, Rosenkrantz Tarn and Akon Hall. Just outside the hotel there is the bus stop for the shuttle service to the Airport (with frequent rides every day). Breakfast is good and with a wide choice of food. The rooms we booked - two standard rooms - were sufficiently spacious, definitely clean and comfortable, though not very bright.
