This is the biggest surprise we ever had when going to an hotel. We booked this place only by checking its rating (higher than a 9) and the hotel worth even more. This is not only the best hotel we ever been, this is the hotel where I felt better. Just when arriving, the staff came to the taxi to help us with the baggages and they served us a welcome drink and snacks (lemon juice and fresh fruits). all reviews » We've arrived at the hotel in the morning after 14 hour train journey from Hanoi. We were picked up by a very nice hotel rep from the train station ($4) who carried our 2 backpacks to the hotel for us and refused our help. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed warmly by the staff and invited to have breakfast since we were early and our room was being prepared. It was such a nice touch, we didn't expect it at all! Much appreciated after the long journey. The staff were lovely- always smiling, chat. The thing that makes this hotel special is the people. They obviously make it a priority to interact with you and make you feel welcome. Big, genuine smiles and personal attention. It is 5 star service. They gave us a free breakfast on arrival, and checked us in by 8am. The room was nice. Nothing fancy, but made more special with rose petals and artfully sculpted sheets on the bed. They gave us tour options, but weren't pushy. We did or own walking tour, and returned to the room . The service is excellent, which can beat a five-star hotel immediately. We got a big welcome from the receptionist, and fresh tangerine juice as welcome drink. Luggages were brought up to our room by the staff, partly because the elevator is small. But other facilities are way too good for a 3-star hotel. There is a computer in our room (wifi works as well), flat screen TV (even receives a Chinese channel, which is rare outside of China), clean bathtub (looks like everything is brand new), hair. If there were more Vietnamese people like the staff at the Holiday Diamond Hotel - Catina, Tatina, Minh and Anna - Vietnam would be a lovely place to visit. They did their best to see that we were comfortable in every possible way, unlike in other hotels. They weren't just going through the motions, we really felt welcome. The breakfasts were generous and of good quality. They even went out and bought some avocado because they knew we liked it for our breakfast. They didn't pressure us to accep. This hotel is quite simply, brilliant. If you're wondering whether to book or not, don't even think about it! We paid 24$ a night for a deluxe double and it is the best price to customer service/quality ratio we've ever had, and inspired us to write our first ever online review. The breakfast is great; available any time you wake up (never seen that before!) and you can order unlimited items from a very wide variety of options. The room decor is a touch old and could do with an update. Nothing. If I have to write a negative, laneway to hotel was roughly paved but, hey, the taxi rang them on arrival and they came and collected our bags, and took them to taxi when we left. there's absolutely nothing!. Nothing really. We had a little trouble finding it at first, but that is our own map's fault. Taxis have to drop you at the end of the alleyway so you have to walk a short distance to the hotel - but the staff will come down to the end to carry luggage, direct taxis for you etc. Hotel is down a short alley ( a characteristic of many Hue buildings) which may unsettle some guests, however was fine for us. Tours and bike hire options were expensive. Tout y était !. Nothing really. The room description said there would be a computer in the room, but it didn't really matter as we could use the one in the lobby. Nothing. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Hmm, No electrical plug by the bed for my phone, and the lift is very cozy (not necessarily a bad thing). That's all I got. The main thing I didn't like was that I couldn't spend more time in this lovely hotel. Elevator too small. Only two people and their luggage could ride in it.(about 24" deep). The entrance is in a small lane... you may miss it!. Strange location down an alley - but it seemed safe with plenty of expatriates around, and the hotel was very quiet (as in no traffic noise), which was a bonus. Hard to initially find, could use a little better sign on the entryway to the alley. perhaps is the narrow path that lead to the hotel entrance. Only accessible by motorbikes. But it's fine with me. Nothing. Wishe had spent our entire stay in Hue with them. Nothing. nothing. Nothing. Breakfast average. Sometimes too much questions although we were exhausted.
