I loved my stay. So much so that I am staying here again on my way back. You cannot beat the location - right in the center, right beside the metro. The breakfast is absolutely phenomenal (and this is coming from a vegan). To those saying the staff was unfriendly, I did not find that at all to be the case. This hotel made me fall in love with Tashkent. Helpful staff at reception, nice room, great location with a metro station right next door. Breakfast had plenty of choice, although it wasn't 5 star standard. I had the one local dish recommended by the waiter at the restuarant on the top floor (mutton chops with white wine sauce) which was tasty, and very reasonably priced.
all reviews » While this hotel dates back to the Soviet times, it has been nicely renovated. Excellent central location near metro station. Friendly and well-trained staff. Good and tasty breakfast (I especially recommend ommlet which they cook in front of you). Overall, very good value for the money. Large, modern room on 16th floor with huge bed and excellent views over city. Note that rooms on 9th floor (another stay) slightly more tired. Loud music until the early hours from a wedding party on Saturday night. When checking in with early check-in, staff did not advise me that there was an extra $50.00 charge for the early check-in. So, it came as a surprise the following morning when I went to pay. Also,staff gave incorrect information about whether or not I would have to change rooms when joining a tour group after the first night's stay. On site cafe and snack shop are extremely expensive--look elsewhere for snacks and water. The receptionist had no record of our booking. We had made it the day before (Saturday) and were told their reservation team did not work at the weekend. We had to go to the business centre and pay to print the confirmation to prove we had booked. She was very unfriendly throughout, a real Soviet welcome we did not appreciate. In a big hotel like this, we'd expect more efficient organisation. Unfortunately the facilities are in sore need of repair/upgrading. Breakfast was a bit boring, no fruit whatsoever. Staff is ok, but not as friendly as you'd expect from hotel that they claim to be. Weirdly enough they don't accept payment in cash. Fridge was not very cold. Nothing to mention. Small TV and old air condition system. Staff is not well trained. Nothing. Need renovation. No problems thanks!. heat water was not heat. Currency exchange was a really big issue!. Booked Superior Single Room with A/C received a Standard Room with no A/C. Dirty and torn carpet, flimsy curtains. the front office staff needs to speak better english and needs to be more friendly. in fact they should learn to smile. there is one male front office staff, who looks like an african, who need to learn how to be a bit more enthusiastic when dealing with guests. Front office sucks badly. The wifi in the room is too slowly, impossible to work with. The accommodation in the room is too old. The lunch and the dinner is to avoid (is not warm enough, sometimes is cold for 12$ !!) there is a lot of good restaurants for less then that. The room I got was not very clean. It was cold (during this first week of snow in Tashkent). We had a big pump problem during the night, which woke up a big part of the building. It was my second stay in this hotel, and it was certainly not as good as the first one... Poor breakfast. All the cashmashines are empty and didn´t get filled!! No way to get easy money!! I wasted 5 hours with waiting at a Western union. For getting money at the cashmashines there, you need a local creditcard . Visa or Mastercard never gets money at a ATM . ( I tried 30 different ATM´s ). I was on 5th Floor Room#534 very small room just single bed, No Wi Fi in the room, bathroom is very very small. some time in the night there were no power for few mints. Staff's cooperation is just average. I've questioned from Uzbek people why you come here they do a lot of investigation which I didn't like. Some rooms very dated and in bad shape Many staff disinterested and unhelpful Poor breakfast. No hot water!. The hotel poor by evrything!.
