Bath Street Inn had everything we could wish for and also a little more. Here are a hospitable and friendly atmosphere. The hotel has retained its style of old times, cozy indoors and outside in the garden. Comfortable beds and clean and fresh in the room. We stayed for 8 nights and really appreciated the location in a quiet residential area but still within walking distance of downtown Santa Barbara. There is cake, cookies, and tea available not only in the afternoon but throughout the evening for late comers. There is a wide selection of movies to unwind with in the evening. The inn is close to all the popular attractions: Santa Barbara Zoo, the mission, the natural history museum, the wharf, state street, and more. Debra and Marie, the owners, were very friendly and accommodating, providing helpful insights into areas of interest, shopping, and restaurants. Breakfasts were made from scratch and the presentation was excellent. Afternoon tea was very pleasant, with homemade cakes and cookies. Wine and cheese in the early evening was relaxing and nice venue to discuss dining options. Comfortable, quiet, very clean, with attention to details. The innkeepers were knowledgeable and friendly. Accommodations were very charming and cozy, with comfortable beds and various places to sit and read. We especially enjoyed the "goodies"--tea in the afternoon with wonderful homemade baked goods, and wine and cheese in the evening. Easy to get to restaurants and sights from location. The place where it is located is excelent and Santa Barbara is beautiful. The inn is lovely, furnished beautifully and comfortably. The location is convenient and quiet. The food - all fresh and "made from scratch" - is delicious. Deborah, Marie and their staff are generous, courteous and accommodating. Every thing else was wonderful; they made our stay perfect!. The Garden Room was very spacious and comfortable-decorated in old Victorian but not over done in that theme. The breakfasts were delicious-very creative and different. The ladies at the inn made sure you were comfortable and were readily available to answers any questions you may have. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful. They did not skimp. Wine, cheese and baked goods were provided in the evening. We sat in the main room and chatted with others who were staying there as well. We stayed in the Garden Room which had it's own separate entrance and parking space. You really felt like you were welcomed into someone's home. In the evening we were offered wine and home made cookies and the home made breakfast in the morning was simply excellent. Add to that the cute rooms and the very friendly inn keeper and it amounts to a great stay. -outstanding breakfasts! -friendly staff willing to take time to make recommendations, accomodate our needs. -relaxing, never rushed -beautiful rooms, a little older, but charming -good price for an expensive town. Room was a good size & clean. Staff were friendly. If one doesn't have a car, the distance from downtown can be somewhat challenging. There are busses and a trolley, which stops at 6 pm, so that is somewhat limiting. But, the weather is such that walking is pleasant, so if you have the energy and are willing to accommodate a more relaxed pace, it's not a major issue. Parking a bit difficult, with parking area behind the house small and cramped. Breakfast also ended rather early at 9:30 and on vacation my family doesn't like to get up too early. Nothing. Nothing. We stayed in the garden room and we didn't like the spa tub/shower that was in the bedroom. If you took a shower, it steamed up the whole room. The toilet was in a separate room, but not the sink. I know this is an old house and they have to do what they can to make it as comfortable as possible. We loved the Inn, but won't choose the Garden Room next time. It did have a private entrance, however, and it's own parking space in front of the room. having to leave. There was street noise on two of my five night stay because my lovely room faced Bath Street. In the future I would choose a room facing another direction. Warm water only in over tub shower. It's an older house, with the inevitable compromises. Our bathroom was teeny. But all was clean. Carrying our suitcases up 2 flights of narrow stairs. Stairs to the third floor are a bit steep. Bed wasn't bad, but wasn't the greatest. No real negative. small bedroom and bathroom. Hallways and stairs were very narrow. little tiny TV. Location was a bit further from downtown Santa Barbara than we had expected. Although only 3 blocks from State Street, it was about 15 blocks from there to Stearns Wharf area. We enjoy walking but may be a problem for some people.
