I like how easy it was to book this hotel. Also I only ordered a single room,but ended up bringing a friend for two nights-who could stay with me for free! That was really awesome. Value for money. Everything is clean,like linens and towels. You have everything you need,but there is no luxury. This hotel is probably the best alternative for someone who does want the privacy of a hotel,with a door to close and your own room. Even the breakfast was good. They have oatmeal,eggs,fruit and good coff.

They gave me an itemized receipt. Perfect for post docs and students or others on a tight budget attending meetings at the Moscone Center. Recommended it to a friend and he was also happy. Fun to socialize with other guests. Would stay again. The staff was fantastic and did everything in their power to satisfy our needs (thank you again Vincent and Susan!). Wifi was reliable, location is very useful for pedestrians and the breakfast was good. Friendly helpful staff. It was handy to lots of services - laundry 1 minute walk away - and transport. Yes there were people on the street but they didn~t bother us and were often quite friendly. Huge shower and plenty of bathrooms. Awesome breakfast, Wifi only worked in the basement lounge which was acceptable. Very clean. Close to best nightlife in the entire world!!. The warmth and friendliness of the staff and owners. They were making improvements in the lobby when I was there and they were definitely going to be attractive. Good choice for that price. Staff marked in the map all the important points of interest and places should be avoided. Not bad breakfast. The security there was top notch and the people serving me were fantastic. The location is the only thing that justifies choosing Pontiac Inn (and still I'd say we paid more than what we thought it was worth) Free breakfast, although just bread, cornflakes and coffee, was a welcome addition. The staff was great. The hotel is close to city center with public transport connection to all tourist areas just 2 blocks away. I felt safe in the hotel, in spite of its surroundings. Minna itselt is ok, but 6th street really is a rough street with a lot of addicts and homeless people. I,who was by myself (a 21 year old woman) at times,had to sort of walk in the street instead of the sidewalk to avoid unpleasant words and people walking after me. Also I had to take a cab home every night. There is a few blocks up to market street that really aren't nice to walk by yourself. The homeless owns the sidewalks in this city. Two minor recommendations upon post checkout reflection: 1. Toilet needs some maintenance 2. Would be useful to know locations of showers at checkin. I only learned of some of these on my last day. Our first night was a saturday and, since the the hotel was very crowded and noisy, it was a bit hard to sleep (the other nights-sunday and monday- were fine though). The room was small - didnt have a good outlook and also the small number of bathrooms was a bit bothering but in the event we never waited long. All of this acceptable for the price we paid. íTernet was a bit sporadic but it was a work in progress and had improved by the time we left. I didnt like having to leave the key to my room at the front desk everytime I left the hotel. There was no hot water for the 4th floor shower at 6am on Monday morning. The immediate area is sketchy and shady! Crazy homeless people yelling scary stuff at 2am. Few bathrooms. 100 meters walk from Market Street to Hostel in the evening seemed a bit dangerous. the fact that the showers and bathrooms were so far apart but I couldn't beat the price. The neighborhood wasn't the best, but being centrally located in SF is the trade-off. neighborhood not so good. Whenever I take a work through the 6th street, I don't feel comfortable with the people around the street. The room is small, but to the money cost on it , it is fair enough. But we can not. Location was not the best. But good enough if you are not in the honeymoon or being with very old/weak persons. Usually, middle part of San Francisco is very expensive to stay in 4 o r 5 stars hotels. Some of the bathrooms were messy, the tables were often dirty from breakfast for the whole day.Nothing really. The neighborhood. Late at night, someone outside began yelling for a while - and, again, early in the morning. Since it was a narrow alley with buildings on either side, the noise echoed. - neighbourhood doesn't look very friendly. There is no sink in the room. The restroom was small. Small, old shower, only one on one floor. The internet didn't work properly on my floor, althought it was just a problem with the cable on the corridor. Having central bathrooms is a challenge. The shared bathroom part. It should b unlawful 2 have hotels like this. It's totally uncivilized 2 b smelling other human odors. After using the bathroom. Having 2 get at 5 am so I don't get stuck in a line. That is uncivil...also, the tenderloin district, full of people that live off taxpayer's money n use it 2 buy cigarettes, liquor, drugs. It's insane. Noisy, risky neighborhood. homeless and loitering part of the city, shared restrooms. Scary neighborhood...parking a problem. The neighborhood. the room didn't have a restroom, but I survived. Also not their fault just stating what I did not like. The neighborhood is a little bit strange, but I could handle. I didn't like sixth street too many homeless people but was never bothered by anybody!!!!. A bit shady neighborhood, but close to shopping areas. No hot water everytime. Unfortunately the area around can be a bit dodgy. The hotel is near 6th street and there are a lot of homeless people. wired people near the hotel. noisy. Internet doesn't work (but they are trying to fix it). Took forever for hot water to come on during a shower.The area. Not the nicest area, and the tv in our room was broken.Heater was not working. Shower/Bath rooms were on the other side of the floor. Area of town had many poor and homeless, noisy outside if windows open, only 1 electrical socket available, hall bathrooms often full but reasonably clean, no Internet despite assurances to get it working and room was small. We did not like the 6th street, with a lot of homeless wandering around (although they never talk or disturbed us), so I will suggest to use Mission Street and 5th street to get to the hotel instead. No WiFi connection, even though they said it will be available. The bathrooms were clean, but the showers didn't work properly, except on the fourth floor. Service want great, and the staff often takes visitors for granted. The area is sketchy to say the least, however it's just 2 block to civic center which seems safe. I would not recommend going out or returning on feet after 8pm. The urine-like smell of one room. Sharing of bath and rest rooms.
