The room we were given was 301 which is on the corner of the building so we got two windows to see the beach! We had booked an ocean view room and the view from our balcony was of Scripps park, a cave, the beach and all the silly sea lions and pelicans. The rooms are a little out of date in style but they are comfortable and the breakfast is boring but is served on the roof!!! The staff here is amazing...we were driving around San Diego and not familiar with the area and they were always happy .
all reviews » The location couldn't have been better; I liked that they had a ready supply of fresh coffee in the lobby and that they had bathrooms on a couple of floors so we didn't have to go all the way back to the room if we were already out; the balcony and view were all they promised and the beds were comfortable and clean. They held our bags for us before and after check out and that is big plus for us. We had a wonderful time and will definitely stay there again soon and probably for years to come. Great salt-water, heated pool and hot tub, BBQ area, excellent view, our rooms had ocean view balconies on the second floor. The location is tops, very romantic.... moonlit walks along the coast walk... I got engaged while staying here, and upon check out was given a color brochure for brides. They evidently have enough weddings on their rooftop to print a classy brochure and host bridal shows. I stumbled on the experience at just the perfect, romantic location!. We booked a suite, the view was fantastic, the room very clean, spacious, all the amenities you could want. The roof top area had coffee 24/7 and a nice breakfast of waffels. I booked a second suite for the second night for my daughter and her family.Hotel employees tried hard to get us rooms with adjoining balconies. We loved how it was within walking distance of everything!!! Once we parked we didn't have to drive on the small, busy streets. Location was definitely the best part, but the Front Desk there does a Great Job! The woman who helped check us in was very helpful when we told her it was our first time in La Jolla and wanted ideas on what to do. She took her time to tell my wife and I all that La Jolla had to offer. She also suggested our new favorite restaurant George'S. We stayed here for our Honeymoon and look forward to returning for our Anniversary. An excellent location, possibly the best spot in La Jolla. Really wonderful suite with a balcony overlooking the ocean. hot tub and heated pool very nice and the 5th floor deck offered wonderful views. The hotel has a 1960's look about it, that I found charming, I could understand someone thinking it needed an update. Free wi-fi was improved since our last stay, worked great and is something we really appreciate. The views from the roof and the rooms are beautiful. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Great location to shopping, restaurants, and the ocean. Definitely appreciate that the hotel is all non-smoking. The service from everyone was exceptional and consistently friendly.Location and our room was fabulous and very comfortable. We had a great view. The person at the front desk called after we arrived to see if we needed anything.Liked bonus of free gym facilities.Location and foof for breakfast was great. Firm beds with quality linens and lots of little comfort details. The rooftop for breakfast or afternoon cookies was unique. One of a kind location for access to the ocean and shops. Absolutely great location, just by the sea and La Jolla Cove and all sea lions and fantastic views not only of the sea beneath our balconies but also on the coast northward to LA. Still just couple of hundered meters to Prospect Rd and all activities. The front desk upgraded room at no charge when they realized the room we booked with a king sized bed was already taken. They also gave us free parking as well. The front desk staff was very polite and helpful. Unbelievable location, really friendly and helpful staff, great hotel that we will definitely recommend to friends and family and will consider the next time we want to simulate a Hawaiian vacation!. The view from the balcony was great, we could see the seals swimming around and resting on the rocks. We had a perfect view of the La Jolla 1/2 Marathon finish line from our balcony too. The elevator and jacuzzi had intermittent service; also the continental breakfast did not have croissants as promised; the room had no microwave as we thought it would but a small oven and cooktop- we would have preferred a microwave as was pictured in the online brochure. No complaints at all. Minor complaint but would be nice to have ice machines on all levels. My only complaint is that while they did serve hot homemade waffles at breakfast, I wish they also had eggs or yogurt. Of course i could have made those in my room since it had a full kitchen. Elevators are old and slow. Chaise lounge chairs by the pool are very uncomfortable. Would appreciate lounge chairs on the roof. nothing I can think of. Liked everything!. The pool and hot tub were being renovated so no swimming on our vacation. You hear a lot of little noises which is the tradeoff for the glass wall with the incredible view in the front of the hotel. The hotel staff did not update their system and the room we booked with a king sized bed was sold after we already booked it online. The staff was apologetic, professional, and generous when correcting the issue. The shower was the only draw back....couldn't turn it off completely but no big deal. Parking rate is too much overpriced. I know it's not a hotel fault, but you should consider smell from the cove with the seals. It's awful. Sometimes you can hear it in the room when windows are open. Car alarms, room faced parking area, no microwave, didn't remember the $20/night parking. The hotel room keys provided did not last more than 24 hours. I had to request replacement room keys 4 times during my 5 day stay. Took a long time to check in and out and had limited parking for $22/night. Adult children had difficult time when checking in late at night. Room was very outdated but bed was comfortable. No central air conditioning The Tub and shower--old. Very small bathroom Small room Small tv Not enough lighting in the room Parking charges. Need to have more tables set-up outside for breakfast The rooftop furnitures could be upgraded The extra cost of $25 for a cribe. Should be free of charge. Billed $20 for towels which complicates the bill (refunded when towels returned) Smell of seals pretty overpowering in some sections. no dishwasher or A/C. Bathroom floor was not clean upon arrival. Shower is an afterthought, get rid of tub and provide huge shower with multiple heads....cool especially after the beach!. There was no AC in the rooms which made it a little uncomfortable at night even with the windows open. The smell. It is right across from seal beach and the smell was intense. unless in an ocean front suite it would be pretty disappointing I think. Restaurants were not handicap friendly within easy distance from the suite. Traffic was heavy No air condition. Old not updated. Breakfast is the same every day. The sofa bed was not comfortable. It made for difficult, non restful sleep. Add a protein option to the breakfast. There was no late check out. Avoided the $15 per day parking by using the street. This is risky because of a 2hr limit and very busy. The place is dated but clean. However, we had a great time in a very comfortable room with three TV's and two full bathrooms with a terriffic view. A little noisy on Monday morning from neighboring construction. A little stinky on the patio from the sea animal aromas. The bathroom was a little outdated, and could stand some updating. The seals were loud and up all night. There was a bad smell on the lower levels however did not notice it on our 6th floor balcony. They charge $20 to park your car on there lot , even if your staying there ?. It was a cold weekend and the old windows allowed for a cold draft to come in. Also, the bathroom was very outdated and a bit dirty. nothing. N/A.
