This was our first trip to the USA and New York.The staff were friendly and very efficient. Started with Peter who radioed our arrival to reception even before we were out of the taxi. Together with Caesar on the door they were always there with advise on destinations and restaurants, and treated us like we were family. The Girls on reception ( very sorry but I lost the card with your names but you know who you are) who had us booked in 5 minutes after arriving and were always smiling and alway.
all reviews » The location is perfect - right at Columbus Circle: 10 min walk to Times Sq but a residential area so no tourist crowds; lots of cafes and restaurants within a block or two; two subway lines just across the street from the hotel; extremely friendly and helpful staff -- they took time to know us and remember what we were there for and asked how things were going; rooms are large by NY standards and very well-appointed. The room was also very quiet -- no outside stree noise and no internal nois. The hotel staff were very helpful and my bathroom looked like it had just been renovated. Good water pressure etc. The bar downstairs had great staff, food and drink - fantastic Japanese food that was original and fresh. Best part of the hotel really. Nice when you're travelling on your own to have somewhere nice to go in the evening without the stress of 'going out' by yourself. Restaurants are often quite rude to solo diners and give them terrible tables - staff at this bar made everyone who . The location is EXTREMELY convenient to everything: Central Park, shopping, restaurants, theatres, subways, etc. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms are quite small, but maximize every inch of space, with built-in storage, etc. The comfortable beds and quiet rooms are conducive to sleeping. The entire hotel was as clean and neat as could be. (I am somewhat of a germaphobe and place a high value on cleanliness!) We will definitely stay at Six Columbus on our next trip to NYC!. The staff were extremely friendly & helpful, particularly Peter who was on the door when I returned to the hotel with my family (having already checked out a few hours earlier) stating I realised I had inadvertently thrown my tiny gold stud earings into the bin in our room along with some other rubbish. Unfortunately the room had already been cleaned but Peter & the rest of the staff arranged for the 'trash' to be checked & they managed to find them. Wow!. Everything was perfect, but the best of all things was that the employees treat me as a person of their family. The night before the marathon they gave me a bag with fruits and water, with a hadwrote card wishing me luck. On the very day they prepares a breackfast at 5 AM for the runners. We felt their proud to belong to that process. I just thank all of them to transform my stay in one of pleasant stays in NY. Even though the rooms were not large the queen size was modern and clean and felt luxurious. I had the superior queen. The bathroom was really nice and even heated floor tiles. The whole place was very quite and a beautiful boutique hotel just across the road from Time Warner centre which has downstairs the arrest whole foods I had ever seen. Of course Central Park just a bit further. Great place. It's a very nice hotel, friendly staff and a good location as well. Extremely close to Central Park and the best places are easy to go, metro are just in the front with necessary. The rooms are quite small but beds are really comfortable and the bathroom has a really good shower. Hotel is in a great location, right on the south corner of Central Park. Staff were friendly and accomodating. Great breakfast, served in a bento box (they have a sushi restaurant at the hotel!). Rooftop bar is very cool and has a chilled out atmosphere (not overpriced either). Great room, really clean, loadsa space for storage etc... I hate paying extra for internet and thought $15 per day was a rip off. Surely, it should be standard equipment in every hotel by now? To top it off, the connection was really slow, so I ended up going next door to Starbucks - cheaper, faster and a cup of coffee to go with it. My only other complaint was the bed - it was old, hard and lumpy and should have been thrown out years ago. Not up to the mark for the price range. No negatives, except for the small size of the rooms. All the positives more than compensate for that!. If I was being picky it was a shame no tea/ coffee facility even though the room has a fridge. Doors were heavy so u always heard a bang from other rooms. Also bathroom mirror is set to high if you are not tall. But just being picky. Oh and you have to pay $15 for 24hr wifi. Room was a standard and was quite small, but I think that is just the way it goes in NYC. It was small but well thought out, with underbed storage should you have been staying longer than a couple of nights. Bathroom was very nice, loved the blue files and the round mirror / light. Would really like a coffee/tea-making facilites in the room. My room didn't have blinds, only curtains, so people on the street could look at me at any time if they wanted to. The sleepers and shower caps were not provided. Apparently I was told that you have to ask for it, but I didn't bother, I had my own with me. Also I didn't like the furniture, very uncomfortable doors with slippery handles. You can break your nail trying to open those doors. And a VERY heavy armchairs!. No coffee available in lobby or rooms without having to call for slow rooms service. The view from the room window was poor looking out onto a window from the next building. As a vegetarian, I felt the room service menu was extremely restricted. The lack of free WiFi is the worst problem with this hotel. It's definitely designed for the business traveler with an expense account since every extra will add cost. I only stay if the rate is $15 cheaper then then other hotel rates. Nothing there to complain. Nothing we did not like... Not the largest room we ever stayed in, but not the smallest either. Really no complaints!. There should be the possibility of having non-smoking rooms. Very annoying smell when entering the room. The room was a bit small. No free wi-fi. You could hear everything in the corridor very loud and clear. But all these were minor flaws. Missing a gym. Hotel colors were DARK, hallways, elevator. That was creepy. The room was small. Lighting in the hallways, bedroom and bathroom was poor. Nothing - it was a fabulous place. in-room amenities. No iPhone charger :(.... But they do have docking stations in the rooms for your IPod. And if you like the concierge can charge the phone in their office for you. Lighting way too dim. Key card access elevators. Internet service, there wasn't. One of the staff members told me to use the Starbucks's WiFi...;/. Small room. No complementary water. Room door shuts very hard making a loud and disrurbing noise in all hotel rooms. A long drive from JFK. No free Internet. No free WiFi in the guest rooms. Air con in room was poor, standard/queen rooms quite small (although we were upgraded to king w/balcony due to the ac not working and that was a great room). The stand alone closet is placed unfortunately in front of the bathroom door (Rm 49). Awfully little light makes it down to a fourth floor window on the air shaft. Neither of these is a huge deal. We would stay at 6 Columbus again. the plumbing was terrible! Heat was mostly AC which had to be fixed twice and still left me freezing in the middle of the night with 2 blankets and a hat! The water was cold in the shower unless turned all the way to hot, and then barely warm. I tried to let management know, but they never called back, absolutely terrible treatment!. This is my 4th stay there and it would be a nice perk to receive some sort of incentive/upgrade reward. The rooms are smallish and expensive, but that's New York and can't be helped. The size of the room, just a little small. Expansive. Small rooms. They charge you a $100 deposit when you check in. Price a little bit high.
